as good as the state of alabama had been in the late 90s, neither auburn nor alabama has made it to omaha since 1999. gotta think they are getting killed by the scholarship limitations and the fact that they don't have state lottery sponsored scholarships for in state kids.

Well it has to do with funding as well. The five teams that have made it to Omaha from the West invest heavily in their baseball programs.

because they actually recognize a sport other than football.

well alabama just invested 30 million on a renovation to their facilities, so we'll see where that gets them. regardless, only having 11.7 scholarships and not having the state lottery help you with your instate kids really hurts them. you don't have to have state of the art facilities and great support to field a very competitive program. Case in point: Florida. They play in an outdated and modest stadium with modest facilities and have poor fan support comparatively to the rest of the SEC, yet they have been one of the most consistently good teams in the conference since the 90s.

You do know that Mississippi doesn't have the lottery either and both teams have made it to Omaha recently.

I love it when people try to talk shite about our baseball team. Maybe y'all should attack women's basketball next. We have a great history. I'd bet we get back to Omaha in the next 5-7 years. Even if we don't, oh well.
