Is there serious chatter about him being gone? I live in South Carolina and all my Gamecock friends believe he is done

I hear that Ray Tanner is getting some serious pressure from people who matter to make a change. I'm sure scrooster can speak more about that though.

Again - not saying USC should keep or not keep Holbrook, but many fans in the SEC have completely unrealistic expectations.

We have now lost 7 SEC series 2 out of the past 3 years. We NEVER lost this many series during any season under Ray Tanner, even during Tanner's "bad" years.

I can imagine it's incredible frustrating this season especially as a Gamecock fan - b/c it doesn't seem to be a talent issue...and and with USC's pitching alone, ya'll should really be battling for an SEC East/SEC crown this weekend - or at least not fighting for your NCAAT at-large chances.

We also missed out on the tournament for the first time in like 16 years in 2015. (I think that also snapped our 16 year streak of winning 40 games or more in a season)

Tanner only missed the tournament twice in his 15 year tenure as coach. Holbrook might reach that number in year 5, and that's after being handed the keys to a loaded kingdom.

To refer to your earlier post: no we don't expect to reel off 3 CWS finals once every 5 years, but we do expect to get a lot more than we're getting now.

understood. at the same time, when your baseball coaching pedigree is the 3 men sitting to the left of Chad

...dating back to 1970 with native son Bobby Richardson - it's okay for Gamecock Baseball and its fans to expect more than what Holbrook has produced.

the characteristics/traits that exist with Holbrook's teams couldn't be further from those which Richardson, Raines & Tanner displayed in playing championship baseball - year in, year out.

Plus as attendance continues to fall, Tanner will be forced to make a decision. That stadium is one of the best in the nation and seeing it half empty is sad.

Holbrook is done.

Smoke Holbrook needs to go. I've said that for awhile, in fact, drew the comparison on 7/12/12.

Thank you Jesus that our biggest baseball fan, Oot Oot (RIP) doesn't have to witness this bullshite in person.

Send Holbrook to fricking hell. Burn him at the stake..do it at the Horseshoe so all of USC can celebrate. PLEASE!!!!

ETA: Chad is also responsible for screwing The Year of the Goddamn Rooster right in the arse. fricking a-hole.

Baseball program won't miss a beat, IMO. Holbrook has been groomed by Tanner, and is the recruiting mastermind behind our talent overload.

Say it with me: "National search." When you have one of the top programs going, the "groomed guy" approach is complete horseshite. Get a proven commodity. Lookin at you LSU football.

The LSU fans warned of this. That's a great find, btw.
