Since when is the WCWS an SEC only event?
Since when does averaging less than half the attendance at games make a sport "more popular"?
Back out of the thread slowly. You already look stupid enough.

Because we all know the only ones who care about the sport are actually sitting in the stands, right?

Alabama arguably has the longest history of softball in the SEC and the longest established "large" softball fanbase in the league.
Alabama, in all likelihood, will average less attendance for WCWS softball than a .500 SEC baseball team did with a lame duck coach for 2016.

Well, that's generally the only metric we can use to gauge interest.
Do you think people at LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt (doesn't even have a team), South Carolina, etc care more about softball than baseball?
Really?

Baseball is definitely a big 3 sport.
Posted on 6/21/16 at 1:40 pm to SummerOfGeorge
The fact you're limiting this to the SEC is going over way too many people's heads.
They can't grasp that the 3rd biggest sport varies from conference to conference.

We get it, you don't like college baseball. Leave the thread, no one is forcing you to acknowledge that baseball is the # 3 sport in the SEC. Damn...

Nobody's arguing that it's the 3rd most popular
it's just not a Big 3 sport, there's no such thing at the collegiate level, it's big 2 and the rest.

Women's basketball (and softball), in the SEC, is in no way shape or form as popular as baseball. That's just silly.
Depends on the school, at least with regards to average game attendance:
School/Average WBB Attendance/Average BB attendance
1. Alabama - 2,651/2,761 (barely more baseball)
2. Arkansas - 2,373/7,928 (much more baseball)
3. Auburn - 2,562/2,800 (barely more baseball)
4. Florida - 1,661/3,502 (much more baseball)
5. Georgia - 2,932/2,180 (much more w basketball)
6. Kentucky - 6,454/2,080 (much more W basketball)
7. LSU - 2,858/10,726 (much more baseball)
8. Ole Miss - 1,749/8,066 (much more baseball)
9. Miss St. - 5,162/7,448 (much more baseball)
10. MIZZOU - 3,990/873 (much more W basketball)
11. USCe - 14,364/7,314 (much more W basketball)
12. Tennessee - 10,412/1,889 (much more W basketball)
13. aTm - 4,867/4,742 (slightly more W basketball)
14. Vanderbilt - 2,906/3,038 (slightly more baseball)
Total numbers:
Women's basketball - 64,891 (total conference average home attendance)
Baseball - 65,347 (total conference average home attendance)
So, yes...there are more people who attend baseball games than women's basketball games across the conference.

No wonder Tennessee fans constantly look for new ways to get drunk. Sucking at sports is still no excuse for putting wine up your butt though.

While I do not fully disagree with you, as an LSU fan baseball is part of the big 3. May not be for everyone else...
You could crunch all the numbers like the OP of just Football & Basketball and start a new thread...

Exactly. LSU found a sport no one else cares or tries at which allows them to be very good at so they try to push and press that it is a part of some sort of "Big 3" when "Big 3" is not even a real thing. The rise of popularity in college baseball at LSU coincides with their miserable 1990's football program. This is not a coincidence.
I also find it very enjoyable how angry some of you get for people stating college baseball is not a big 3 or national sport.

True measure of a shitty troll. Get bitch slapped with facts and pivot to try a new angle to get responses.
Try posting this nonsense in the other thread. It will go over better there.

Again.
You can't help yourself. Just because baseball is a second tier sport?
