Knob Creek is my other go-to. Fine beverage there as well.
Meh, that's almost getting a little too steep for me. I don't feel like I'm getting proper bang for buck.
I'm not fancy. I'll take Maker's or Jameson, all day.

I think mostly I want to be able to tolerate it enough while a couple of my other buddies do that. If all you bastards would stop trying so hard to be sharp and tough I could appreciate my damn whisky and coke without judgement!
I didn't really develop that taste until after college, but I think a lot of that had to do with the fact I was drinking Jim Beam in college. When I started drinking good whiskey, drinking it on the rocks was the only way

Maker's and coke is great. Same with woodford. That is no doubt my favorite.
I keep trying to improve my whisky acquired taste... woodford over ice, once each time I get a bottle. I still haven't gotten to the point that i "like" it, but I get a little closer each time.
Just drink better bourbon. There's nothing wrong with Woodford or Maker's, but that's like saying you want to like a type of food while exclusively trying it at chain restaurants.

I mean, I get it. What I mean to articulate is that whisky is not something you could give a baby (if it were safe) and them like or enjoy the taste. It's a harsh chemical after all. I pretty much exclusively buy woodford, knob creek, crown reserve, elijah craig, and/or makers. I have not been able to really find a single scotch I liked as much as those, so I'm gonna keep at those until I prefer it without a splash of cola (caveat, scotches i've tried: glenfiddich, Several JW types, laphroaig, and one or two others I can't remember) . I mean, I do adhere to the idea that a real man ought to be able to drink hard stuff straight up. I'm just not 100% of the way there yet... unless I've had 3-4 stiff drinks already.

That's not a friend any longer.

In (the bluegrass region of) Kentucky, you ARE given it as a baby. How the hell else do you deal with teething?
Get creative man, that's all I'm saying. Find some weird stuff like orphan barrels, etc. the more disparate bourbons you try, I think the more you'll appreciate each. Also get the frick out with crown reserve.

Hey, crown reserve isn't bad! It doesn't have a full body flavor, but it's super clean. It's actually a good beginner type to buy to put over ice at least for me.
*edit*
Considering my admitted lack of acquired taste in this thread, there may be a good reason I'm off base on that reserve pick of mine lol

It DOES get packaged and sold to you in a sack made of skin. You may be on to something here.

LSU- Bud Light and Crown Royal seem to be the official drinks of the state of Louisiana.
Auburn - I had many a friends on the plains during our college days and Keystone and Jim beam seem to stick out
Alabama - natty light/bud light and Evan black label were always the staples in the fridge in ttown. Fire fly and water was my go to for yard games.
Tennessee - Jack Daniels.
Those are from personal experiences but seem to hold up more or less
Just reading over some responses
