I kinda thought this all season but at the same time its a round ball and round bat. I was a little surprised outside of Florida and A&M and maaayyyybe Ole miss and State that anybody else hosted a Super and OM and State were stretches.

I think too it was a situation where the pairing were bad matchups for our teams. I do not believe this SEC sux theory that we will hear from the rest of the country. On a given night LSU and USCe could beat anybody as well. College baseball is getting more popular and you have these schools that don't have football so more funding can go into baseball. I believe its really putting the P5 at somewhat of a disadvantage in baseball.

Using 2 wks to judge a league is ridiculous, especially these past 2 wks. You are playing in the NCAA tournament, facing quality pitching & hitting in 4-5-6 intense games, underdog teams fired up way beyond their day to day abilities. Shite happens. Wanna say that Louisville was over rated? Got beat by a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th by a walk on catcher who was 3rd string.A&M over rated? They had a stud team all season long. Moo St, the same. The SEC had 3-4-5-6 teams in the Top 10 all season long.

RmerkFact of the day: SEC BASEBALL WAY OVERRATED! by Rmerk

I'm talking about this year. Close the yearbook. Explain to me how the results the last 2 weeks proves the conference wasn't a little overrated...

Dude.

Texas A&M was pretty much predicted to go to a Super Regional. They did. And hosted.

Ole Miss was pretty much predicted to go to a Regional. They did. And hosted.

Miss. State was pretty much at the very least predicted to go to a Regional. They did, a Super Regional in fact. And hosted.

Florida was pretty much predicted to go to a Super Regional and possibly a CWS. They did and they still can.

South Carolina was pretty much at the very least predicted to go to a Regional. They did, a Super Regional in fact. And hosted.

Vanderbilt was pretty much at the very least predicted to go to a Regional. They did, A Super Regional in fact. And hosted.

LSU, on the other hand, was predicted to 'maybe' make somebody else's host regional. They ended up hosting a Super Regional. They were maybe the youngest team in CBB with one returning starter.

Overrated ?? Don't think so......

More so than the other Big 3 sports, baseball has parity. It is a sport that is almost entirely dependent on pitching and pitching can be developed post high school due to better coaching. Meaning lessor programs can find diamonds on the rough and that is further helped by the partial qualifier rules in some conferences and ease of admission.

Fact of the day: baseball, especially a 3 game series can go any way. Next weekend they could have been complete opposite. This weekend they weren't which is what matters but baseball is a tough game to have a 3 game series cost you a trip to a World Series berth.
Exactly. The ACC had a similar lack of success.

It could be said the ACC was more overrated with more teams in the field and only 1 in the CWS if Florida beats FSU tonight.

Yep, stupid us- we did not have UCSB #1 all year long. What were we thinking?

I thought the NCAA baseball commitee was set on creating a more georgraphic balance...at least in the regionals. At least one of the 16 should have been played up north (or midwest) and west of the Rockies.

Baseball rankings and RPI's are so random...and northern/midwest teams play their 1st 10-15 games on the road. NCAA could have easily made BC or Ohio State a #1 seed and host of a northern regional..sprinkled in with AQ's from northern colleges. Kent State, Stoneybrook, etc. have proven that these elite teams can play with SEC/ACC.

"West of the Rockies"? Utah won the Pac 12 with an over all losing record. Give a SR to BC. Who do you remove? Did O.State win the Big 10? Who do you remove in its place? Kent State? Really? Kent State? Good Lord.

If 4 or 5 sec teams made it to CWS would all the SEC fans be saying "it was just a bad weekend(s) for the Pac 12/wac/big 12 schools"??? NOOOOPE. All we would hear about is how "dominant" the conference is compared to the rest of the inferior conferences... Well I hate to be the hater, but the SEC hosted a boat load of super regionals and regionals (huge advantage to sec teams btw). They had at least 3 or 4 CWS births teed up for them. But only mustered up 1 with Florida saving the face of the conference.
Don't make excuses when only one team makes it to cws out of all of them. I don't want to hear anymore about the number of sec teams that made it to regionals and/or hosted super regionals. The committee CHOOSES THOSE. If you threw in the same number of pac12/big12 hosting regionals like the SEC I guarantee they would be in the same boat when superregionals came around.
Facts are simple. Best 8 teams are left. You can't make the argument that those sec teams "belong" in Omaha. If they did they would be there. I respect the SEC fans because they are hands down amazing. They pack the games and they are rowdy. They always show up. That's a tough environment for any team to come into, especially in playoffs. To have all that advantage and all those teams fall short... teams just weren't as good as everyone thought

The SEC isn't going anywhere. The level of parity in the sport is at an all-time high this year, the purists have to love it (all 63 of them). Think of the SEC getting to host almost every regional as a reward for giving a shite and investing in the sport. The new box cost $38-$39 million whereas most schools just throw up some bleachers.

Well, I respect your opinion.

But being that you used the word 'overrated" ad nauseum, the fact remains that the teams I mentioned met their PRESEASON expectations. And the only one that was universally expected to make it to Omaha was????

Florida.

And then stuff happens, like what Lewis and Herschel mentioned.

uhhh...Arizone is in the CWS..last time I checked they were west of the Rockies..so is UCSB...

Ohio State did win the Big 10..they won 43 games going into the regional. They beat Coastal at Coastal.

As for Kent St and Stoneybrook..I was referring to their recent CWS appearances...but to prove my point..Kent State won 43 games this year and didn't get an invite.

As far as 'who to remove'? Certainly NC State. Ole Miss finished 4th in their division. Why would they 'deserve' favor? Let's face it..UVa did not deserve to host either...they hosted simply because they were the defending champs.

Good Lord man...get off your front porch once in awhile..it's a big world out there...plenty to see and even more to learn.
