Arkansas fans are all upset because we were suppose to play for the West, according to our state and local media. Our fans say it is great that we are the only gig in the state and we are rabid fans. That may be true but not having more major teams in this state, our media sucks.
how is the media in your state. Every one of our radio and paper media members that cover the hogs have never played football or any sport for that matter. The guys that break down recruiting never played, the radio guys never played. The media that watched the practices and scrimmages brought back raving reviews about how we would be 10-11 wins good. They completely failed at reporting and evaluating talent. This is why the Hog fans are so angry, we were sold a bill of goods.

They also did this when we had John L Smith. They wanted to give him an actual contract and have him as our coach. They had us pegged to win the SEC and play for a title. We all know how that panned out. How educated is the media that the fans rely on for their information about the team. The team is who they are but the expectations were raised because we have people who never played and wanted to be close to sports so they became sports reporters. They took it upon themselves to quit reporting sports and start evaluating it. Is this similar at other schools and states regarding your media.

Media knowledge. An oxymoron if there ever was one. All the great and even average have passed on. RIP sports media.

Ahh, the usual moral victory coming from Arky fans. Knew that was coming.

the BR sports media is very good. NOLA's is a good bit worse. Can't speak for any other part of the state.

You rely on your state media coverage to tell you what to think about your team? Were in the band?

The media that covers LSU is outstanding. They have great insight on all sports and are very entertaining to listen to. They're not sunshine pumpers either.

Did Glenn Gilbeau leave or retire? That guy is god awful. Doesn't even know a football is oblong.

the main problem with our media is they don't know what they are talking about. Thy can't evaluate talent for anything. We are always told we will coach up 2-3* kids. It is impossible to evaluate talent when you never played to understand the sport in the first place. The fans build up these wild expectations and when the season starts off bad, they start in with excuses.
I always wondered if bigger states have ex players and coaches in the media evaluating things vs our overweight slobs

When I lived in Arkansas, I could not stand to listen to Dick Shaver on Drive-Time Sports. He has a ton of sports knowledge, but the sunshine that he continually shot out of his a-hole was nails on the chalkboard.

We got the Commercial Appeal at work so I'd rely on their SEC coverage before I'd read lil Wally or listen to Dick Shaver.

No one listens to GG or anything he says. He doesn't count. Everyone else is good. 104.5 alone is one of the best ESPN affiliate stations in the country.

Media in this part(Joplin) sucks because we border Oklahoma and Kansas and add in the fact that Arkansas is the nearest p5 or major school, Arkansas State line 30min away. So we get a good mix of Mizzou, Arkansas, OU, Okie State, KU and K-State. Plus local Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State.

No one ever said this in the media. Even Jeff Long said it was a "Interim" position and that he would hire someone when the season was over. WTF are you talking about?!
