Competition is where it's at. Unless somebody gets hurt and ends up on IR, somebody won't have a job coming out of training camp in the fall.

Alex Smith has the starting job. Cannot lose it, Chiefs gave up too much to turn around and get rid of him, though if they can't come to terms on a new contract, he theoretically could leave, but that is highly unlikely. He's helped himself by performing at the level the Chiefs thought he would.

Chase Daniel was given a guaranteed 3 year deal to back him up. Has done what he was asked to do. Trusted at QB by the team when he comes in, but will likely never be the starter.

Tyler Bray was looked at as a project with great physical tools and potential, but questionable attitude, character and football IQ. The Chiefs can only wait so long for him to mature.

Aaron Murray, proven leader, has "it" leadership ability, but not the physical tools that Bray has. Still, those two will likely duke it out for the third and final spot come fall.

Competition for every position is always good.

Once again this was written last December by Nick Athan, Warpaint Illustrated Publisher. This guy has inside access to the team.

Don't take it too seriously. He's a full time realtor. He does the website as a side thing. If you think he has better access to the Chiefs than every professional sports journalist in Kansas City, then you're deluding yourself because he is writing what you want to believe. Nobody credible is saying that Bray is anywhere near ready to emerge, and given the nature of the issues with him, he'll likely be the loser if Murray makes the team.

But take heart, if Bray can mature and compete, he could go all the way and become the Chief's starter. We just have to see evidence of it and soon.

Personally, I think Alex Smith and Chase Daniel are limited, so the opportunity is there for him to step up and be the man, but the clock is ticking.
