Oh, we haven't forgotten. We're just not sure that it's over. Y'all haven't beaten anyone with a pulse.

Exactly. You can't cure AIDS, you just get treatment. In this hypothetical, LSU's QB1 is AIDS in human form.

Etling is far and away better than anything we've had in recent years.

Agreed. Our d will certainly be tested this week by Kelly. I'm just hoping we keep his arse on the sidelines as I'm not sure anyone will truly shut that guys down.

Probably the best team LSU has played is between Wisconsin and Auburn - both away games that were a play away from victory. But losses nonetheless.

But, ultimately, I agree we haven't played a really good offense yet on par with OM/bama/a&m.

I think our D is pretty good.

They held Wisconsin and Auburn to 1 TD combined.

And that was before Les got fired so they were on the field the entire game.

I think the d is pretty good too. But neither Wiscy or Auburn are truly fast paced o's. Kelley torched Bamas d. I think in this case the best defense is a good offense. Just keep the ball out of their hands and I think LSU wins.

LSU hasn't played anyone, which is UF's fault not LSU's I supposed. But either way, jury is still out on LSU's defense IMO.

I'd have to disagree. Wisconsin is actually a pretty good team and people seem to give a lot of credit to Auburn now for some fricking reason. Yes, we lost those games, but it wasn't by much and we were damn close to winning both of them. That was also with a very handcuffed offense under Miles.

I agree that our "new team" has not been tested yet. We will see what happens from here. We may very well not win the rest of our games, but I bet we won't get blown out in any of them.

Auburn had 7 drives of 50+ yards. Dumb play calling in the red zone is the only reason that game seemed close.

An Auburn ball carrier did not get into the end zone. Not once. That's good defense.

If you want to be naive and think it had more to do with your defense that our offense be my guest.

Etling hasn't played anyone with a pulse. He maybe good and so may LSU but no one knows anything about LSU yet.

What other teams have also kept AU from scoring a TD?

Just from actually watching the games he's much better than our past 2 QB's.

Lol. I agree but that's not saying much. It's like y'all have finally discovered the forward pass. Etling is not a bad an but he hasn't seen a defense that will get after him. It won't be Ole Miss either. Their defense is not nearly what it was the last two seasons.

Auburn's D is no joke, and he has seen that. Gotta be worth something.

It's not some grand revelation that Etling hasn't faced a gauntlet of good defenses yet, so let's stop patting ourselves on the back for such an observation, k? The point is that neither QB that we've started since Mettenberger has been as good as he has against shitty competition. Hell, he's thrown multiple TD passes to tight ends. I don't think that Harris or Jennings were even aware that TE's were eligible receivers. Anyway you cut it, it's improvement over what we've had for the past 2 seasons. Is he a world-beater? No one is making that argument. But he's at least competent, which is what we've badly needed to compliment our strong running game. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable.

Auburn's D definitely has a pulse. Again no one is comparing Etling to Brees. Just saying the improvement from Jennings and Harris is noticeable.

Agreed. It appears that we are a bipolar team. If we come out manic against the teams left on our schedule, then I like our chances. If, OTOH, we come out depressive, then it's gonna be a long season for us. It's the same for the crowd. We have been conditioned by Miles to temper our expectations and to "expect the worst and hope for the best."
We have the opportunity to have a special season. So until proven otherwise I am gonna remain optimistic.
