Don't feel like starting a Friday night games thread. But MSU's Ethan Small has struck out 14 through 5 innings of work against Bama so far tonight.

He's got to be encroaching on something historic if he hasn't already gotten there.

State leads 4-0

He had a stretch where he struck out 7 in a row.

Most strike outs in a game for Mississippi State is 26 in the early 1900s so

Well the strike zone back then used to be defined as anything the ump deemed hittable so, slightly different point of reference.

I know. Just saying that record will never be broken with today’s pitch count. Small is lights out right now

That is nasty. So glad we sneaked out of there with a series win!

Gah, rough 6th inning for small with only 1 K, a groundout, flyout and a walk. That'll probably do it for him at 100+ pitches. No ER. Hell of a line.

Bring him back out for 1 more K to have the most in a single game this season

It is great, but not a very efficient way to get strike outs. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, but some first pitch groundouts would be nice for his arm longevity.

He honestly could have gone longer. No no one wants him pitching that high but he could have. Great outting by the best pitcher in the sec

Of course he could have. Just don’t want these kinds of pitch counts affecting him down the road when it counts.

I love that variable leg kick. Sometimes pausing, sometimes not. He’s fun to watch.

Nobody is really able to put the ball in play on him right now.

His fastball is ridiculous and a nasty breaker. The way he fools with his timing is ruthless too.
