I'd take Eric Berry over almost any defensive player in my lifetime. As far as college goes I might take Suh in front of him

Pretty good list.

The HB was just amazing to watch.

Probably his play against Oregon sticks out to me the most (defensively, his returns against UGA are my favorite).

LSU, 3 of 5 of the Top 5 + 2 of the 9 that just missed the cut.

But wait I thought ESPN said USCe was DBU....

Looks for the stirsthepot emoj =)

ETA not poking at USCe so much as ESPN for their clickbait practices.

Maybe his awful play against Auburn formed my opinion, but I never saw anything special out of Stephon Gilmore. He was awesome in the NFL during 2015, but I never thought he was great.

Hmph.

I would have thought that the buffet of interceptions Kyle Allen served up last year would land 3 Gumps on this list.

You guys have no idea how much fun it was to watch him in 2011.

I suppose but wouldn't call my experience "fun" watching the SECCG in '11.

Claiborne should be dropped for Reggie Nelson(best center field safety I've seen in this league ) laron Landry, mark Barron, dee Milner or Kirkpatrick. I loved mo but he was a product of the rest of that d.

He and ed reed were the only players that could do the things they did. It was just amazing to watch those guys dominate a game from a db position. Lock down corners can be avoided But there was no hiding from the badger or easy ed.

If only Berry got to play a few years earlier on some good UT teams and not the trash years of Fulmer and Kiffin.

Imagine a safety duo of Eric Berry and Jason Allen hnggggggg

Not sure if I agree with clairborne. Maybe biased due to poor NFL career.

You definitely are linking his pro career. Claiborne was a monster cover corner over his 2 years as a starter. he had 1 pick for a TD in the SECCG and ran another 90+ yards back before coming up short at the goal line (vs Tennessee I think). He was as lockdown as lockdown gets. The only way he got beat, is if he happened to slip.

Completely agree with the list except for Mo Claiborne, what a fricking bust in the NFL and even though he won the Thorpe I really don't remember him being THAT good. I only remember Trent outrunning him to the endzone on 1/9. But still not sure who would be above him, neither Mark Barron or Dee Milliner are better than him, maybe as good but not better.

Mo Claiborne was every bit of a shutdown cornerback at LSU.

He was absolutely wasted on the team's he was on. If he had been on the 2001-03 team... God what could have been.
