Nobody thought Cam was going to be any good that year. Nobody thinks Auburn will be any good this year either. Just shows that you never really know.

ETA: But logic such as this is clearly going over your head, so I'll back out of this one

Did we need him in every other year not named 2010 to be good?

What exactly does 2010 have to do with next year?Malzahn and Cam ain't coming back.LSU and Bama have way more talent and depth.I don't think I'm saying anything crazy here, most people who are honest about it know that LSU,Bama, and USC are in a class their own this year.

ummm, losses to those teams are completely possible for Auburn next year.

Are you serious?

Do you not understand that everyone, on message boards and on TV, expected Auburn to be just middle of the pack? In 2009, we were only predicted to win around 6 games. In 2010, we were predicted to win maybe 8 games. In 2011, we were expected to win 4-5 games. Do you see a trend? Auburn always exceeds expectations.

Malzahn and Cam ain't coming back

Malzahn's offense worked great in 2009 without Cam Newton. Besides, like I've asked before, did we need either of them to be successful in every other year not named 2009, 2010, and 2011?

LSU and Bama have way more talent and depth

No, they don't. The depth and talent is very close. Alabama and LSU have just have much better defensive coaching over the past 4 years for sure. Enter BVG for Auburn, and here comes some more great defense.

That's why we play out the football seasons. There's always a surprise team. There are always upsets.

Any loss to anybody is possible. It doesn't mean it's going to happen, and Auburn definitely won't lose to all of those teams this year.

So it's all possible but you definitely won't? Great logic TT.

I agree, anything can happen. The reason I mention Cam,is that's your only bcs title.I think LSU is a national title team. We'll see what happens, but you guys always seem to think you're better than you actually are.

It's possible for North Texas to beat LSU next year. Do you not agree that they definitely won't, though? Just because something is possible, doesn't mean it'll happen. And there's no reason for us to lose to those teams when we've upgraded with coaching, upgraded at every position (except running back), and have most of our hard games at home (UGA, LSU, aTm, Arky).

I agree and I think LSU will beat Auburn this year, although I expect the game to be much closer.

Is Georgia the equivalent of North Texas?

There is a certain top 5 preseason team that will fall in the polls after week 2.

I think it will be closer because it's on the road but I actually think LSU will be better next year and I think Auburn will be about the same.

I think AU will be one of the most improved teams in the nation. I don't see how we will be near the same. We were the youngest team in the nation last year, and we're bringing in a very good DC. So much room for improvement.

ETA: I think LSU will be a little better too, and they should beat Auburn. But I don't see a blowout

No, did I say they were?

Well, with you being a LSU fan, I am not surprised. I think Auburn will be better this season, than last, and that LSU will be a little worse. Oh, what do you know? I'm an Auburn fan.

Nope. But you certainly inferred as much when you balked at the notion that you "definitely" wouldn't lose to five teams that are all more than capable of beating you and four that will likely be favored to beat you.

Why will we be worse? Just trying to be combative because I'm not thinking Auburn will win the NC akin to 2010?

Yes but reality tells you otherwise. We upgrade at the most important position, and lost very little from a great defense.O-line and running game will be great. The only real question is wr,and there's plenty of talent.

I like the hires, don't get me wrong. Especially on the defensive side. But it still takes time to implement. Not sure Van Gorder can do it overnight. Experience will certainly help. And getting some teams at home will help as well.
