I like this one.
According to ESPN, here are the 10 national title frontrunners heading into the 2024 college football regular season:

1 Georgia

2 Ohio State

3 Oregon

4 Texas

5 Notre Dame

6 Ole Miss

7 Missouri

8 Penn State

9 Alabama

10 Utah

Another year, another overhyped top 10 ranking for Utah.

Georgia
Ohio State
Oregon
Texas
Notre Dame
Ole Miss
Missouri
Penn State
Alabama
Utah

Bolded teams don't have enough elite talent to win a title.

Ole Miss is right on the edge.

Might be better for just that. but the original list of 10 should have been for final results at the end of 2024 season.

1 Georgia

2 Ohio State

3 Oregon

4 Texas

5 Notre Dame

6 Ole Miss

7 Missouri

8 Penn State

9 Alabama

10 Utah

How do I short Missouri’s championship odds?

5. Notre Dame

7. Mizzou

10. Utah

Alabama may have a different coach, but they still have one of the most talented rosters in the country. They have more talent on their 2nd string than Mizzou has on its entire team. It’s laughable to have Mizzou, ND, and Utah in the top 10 at all, much less have 2 of them ahead of Bama.

Mizzo being there is hilarious.

They will have min 4 losses in the SEC alone.

While I agree in theory, a 12 team playoff means a team with less elite talent can beat one that has the elites, but most are on the sidelines in street clothes. Attrition counts, having a really strong two deep at the most important positions will be key.

I tend think a bigger playoff makes it tougher for a less talented team to win it all.

The problem is, which teams would you replace those three with? Maybe Nebraska where the players love being huskers so much none of them hopped in the portal? Lol

There will always be one or two surprise teams as well as a couple of expected front runners that have disappointing seasons. I may rank all 10 teams differently, but I don't think I'd swap any of the names.

Don’t think Utah will be on this list by the end of the year

if I understand the playoff format correctly..

The Big 12 Champ will be in the top 4 and get a bye. Therefore, that team will be one of the last 8 standing.

Same is true for the ACC.

Utah has a good chance to win the Big 12.

Lmfao about Missouri. Tennessee will name the score on you this year and I'll bet an entire month's paycheck on it.

A less talented team that keeps it's starters healthy has a good chance of beating a more elite, yet banged up team...but you're right the elite team is more likely to have a better two deep. Take the past two seasons for instance..TCU banged themselves up so badly beating Michigan they couldn't even put up much of a fight with Georgia, same (to a lesser degree) with Udub beating us before they faced Michigan. Not saying Georgia and Michigan didn't have injuries as well, but both teams had a better two deep.
