By corndog logic, Bama and Florida are rivals.

That's right, because Corndogs know how to use dictionaries and stuff:

quote:

ri·val/'riv?l/

Noun:

A person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity.

...But your quote is a poor example because the player only refers to that one season, whereas Jones said, "every year".

LSU fans are so clueless on what a rivalry means that they have to look it up in the dictionary

How long do college football players generally play at their school? 3-4 years? Sounds about right.

At Alabama? About 7.

You're obviously totally ignorant of college football outside of Alabama so I'll fill you in on LSU's rivals - we've already destroyed two of them: Tulane and Ole Miss.

Bama's next, Saban's just part of the Process.

Good grief??? How many times do we have to explain

this????

You are not a rival. Do we think about this game, b/c we consider you a threat? Absolutely. That doesn't make you a rival. It means that all in all we consider you the biggest threat. We don't want you to loose every game. We don't hate you...well some of your fans can get pretty annoying, but all in all, most Bama fans do NOT hate you. Sorry. DWI. Respect yes, rival no.

Do you play for bama?

Fine, it's a rivalry. Not in the traditional sense of hatred shared but one of mutual respect for being The elite teams in the SEC at this time. Happy?

Gumps, that sums it up pretty well. It's just a troll, don't believe it.

Bama has a better record against Ole Miss than LSU. So really, we destroyed them. You're welcome.

I have always thought of LSU as a rival. Not a hated rival like UT or AU, but a rival that you enjoy good natured smack talk with and dont pull against when they are playing someone else.

That's one of the biggest reasons I can't consider LSU a rival. I like LSU. I root for them when they don't play Bama. On the other hand, I fricking hate UT and AU. I want them to lose every game

That's a hated rival. You can have a rivalry with a school that you dont hate. Or at least I think you can.

To me, it's no different than Bama-Florida in 08 and 09. They were the two best teams in the country. The game was enormous. Everyone wanted to call it the new rivalry. But it was only temporary. Sooner or later, LSU/Bama will have a mediocre season and they will go back to being just another game like OM or MSU.

This is the Tide and Tiger fan base's wet dream right here. they have a want for LSU/UA to decline so they don't have to play another great team in the West. :no-rivalry: you say. The Rivalry started when Saban came back to the SECw to coach for Bama. The rest of the SEC understands this except for bama fans.

No, that's just when LSU started really hating Bama. The Dolphins started hating us too. Besides, you can't really call it a big rivalry if it only started 6 years ago.

Oh and for Tool and the OP, the game is circled, but it's got nothing to do with rivalry.

quote:

quote: "To tell you the truth, every game is circled on our calendar, because .... LSU is the SEC championship team or whatever, and not us," Alabama junior wide receiver Kevin Norwood said Monday

I didn't call it a big rivalry. It is a rivalry whether our respective fan bases agree or not. No team has won more in TS than Alabama. LSU has won a great deal in Alabama. There have always been tension between the 2 schools. When Saban left the Dolphins to coach at UA that is when things really escalated. Like it or not. LSU v. UA will always be rivals from now till the SEC is 16 teams and a pod systems is in place.
