Yeah UT put up a better fight against Bama than anyone in the country last season (besides OM of course)

I agree Tennessee will be good - but Arkansas put up the best fight we received all regular season outside of Ole Miss in 2014.........didn't really mean much going forward.

Tennessee returns five pass-catchers who racked up 20 or more receptions last season (Hurd, Kamara, Josh Malone, Josh Smith and Ethan Wolf), a total that is tied for sixth highest among Power 5 teams.

One and a half receptions a game? What makes that such a noteworthy benchmark? Just a case of creating a stat to validate an already formulated position.

If you have 20 catches in a season, you're more than a garbage time receiver. After that, I am not sure it means much.

not necessarily. Considering 13 games that's less than 2 catches per game. Lots of times against scrub teams some leseser WRs may end up playing 2 or 3 full quarters, not to mention an outlier game of 5 or 6 catches would inflate the average.

Granted, the stat carries more weight considering there are 5 of them...but just "20 catches last season" on the face of it doesn't really mean much.

I know past results don't predict future outcomes, but we return so much production from our team last year that I see it as a positive. And we get ya'll at home this season for what should be a top-10 matchup. Will be a good one

Score really didn't show how close the game was this past year. Was really intense for 3 quarters.

Whatever the hell it means, we are tied for 6th in it. I don't see that as anything significant, but i'll take it

How many times does a receiver get 5 catches in garbage time when it's dive right or left? I looked back at 8 years of stats and every single 20 catch or more receiver was part of the regular rotation.

The thing about Tennessee's 5 is that Hurd and Kamara are RBs. So, I have a hard time putting them at top 6 for WR corp.

I wonder if Auburn was one of 11 teams that could win it all in 2010.

Tennessee has a very large and delusional fanbase that eats this kind of stuff up and gives ESPN huge amounts of clicks. That's the only reason these articles are written.
