Yea, but we flushed out all our DL talent last year. Clemson still has all of their guys who will all likely be Top 2-3 round picks in the next 2 drafts. So, we will prove to be deeper, but in 2 years when you do a "starters and where they were drafted" Clemson will have a helluva lot of NFL guys on that starting 22.

Maybe. What I saw last year was a far bigger, stronger, faster, more talented team kick the shite out of clemson in the first half. I mean almost looked like they would injure them on every play. Then slowly but surely that system kept yalls talent on the field long enough to gas them out and they made their comeback

The system that kept our defensive talent on the field and wore them out was our complete inability to get a 1st down.

Sigh

I have mixed feelings on this, to be the best ever IMHO he would have to have taken a program from the hinterlands to the top and there have been a few to have done that.

To me he is like Phil Jackson, a great coach without a doubt but always seem to land somewhere with so many advantages it would be hard to lose.

Did you just insult both Phil Jackson and Nick Saban in the same sentence? wow

Saban ability to get people ready to play and to actually get players to do their job is pretty amazing.

The consistency in which he is able to accomplish this with the constant changes in staff & players is astonishing.

Saban was 8-10 against top 10 teams going into the 2016 season at Bama(equal competition, as Bama has also finished in the top 10). Look at my chart.

You seem to want to talk about 2007 only when it fits the point you're trying to make...like the post above this one.

Saban was 0-2 against top 10 teams in 2007...actually, the top two teams in the AP final top 25. No one in their right mind would suggest that he had equal talent in 2007. If you question that, check how many Alabama players were drafted in 2008. Zero.

Yeah. Deshaun Watson happened because of a fricking system.

Ok. 12-10 vs the top 10 at end of the year. He still does not dominate when he faces teams similar to his in the rankings.

Nailed it. I don't understand why saying this gets Bama fans so worked up. Saban told Mal Moore the exact same thing on the plane to Tuscaloosa in January 2007.
"I just want you to know you've hired a horseshite football coach," Saban told Moore. "But nobody will out-recruit me."

He's never claimed to be an elite football coach, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Yep. Our defense was playing as well as could be hoped for until they lost their legs.

Oh well

"Dude"... ... again, what did a system have to do with it? Nothing.

Bama got bit by the injury bug last year, just like Clemson did the year before, it happens.

There are a lot of factors and stats can be used to tell anything you really want.

But, against top level competition when it really matters (championship / playoff / play in games) Saban is something and 4 depending on how you want to define it with the three losses coming to the eventual national champion in 2008, 2014 and 2016 and one to the eventual NC runner up in 2012.

I'm not saying he is the best in the business but he is very good against similar talent / competition. That is unless you think NC in ever 3 of 4 years should be the expectation.

You say he had equal talent in 2007, and we're supposed to take you seriously?

The fact that you are simple minded enough to take it that way clears up any doubt one could have about you.

You just you have trouble considering Phil Jackson and Nick Saban being in the top 5 of their sport. That is an insult.

I guess you may have meant you only have mixed feelings about a part of what you quoted - but it reads differently to me.

Also, regarding Phil Jackson, the Bulls had never won a NBA title or a conference title prior to his coaching career even with the MJ on the team prior to him taking over the reigns.
