IMO, seeing pictures of people recently deceased is eerie because it makes you wonder what their state of mind was at the time of pic.
Considering the picture was only a few days before he passed, it kinda makes you wonder what his last few days were like for him, mentally, and the personal demons he was facing while living a seemingly normal existence on the outside.
