Since that time, Lacy has struggled to meet weight goals while becoming the target of many jokes and memes on social media. Lacy admitted he has noticed the jokes directed at him and regrets that battling his weight has become such a public issue.
quote:
“I could pull up my Twitter right now and there would be a fat comment in there somewhere,” said Lacy. “Like I could tweet, ‘Today is a beautiful day!’ and someone would be like, ‘Oh yeah? You fat.’ I sit there and wonder: ‘What do you get out of that?'”
quote:
Adding more fuel for fans on social media is Lacy’s current contract with the Seahawks. Lacy signed a one-year deal with a number of incentives based around monthly weight goals. The biggest issue for Lacy is that his weigh-ins are usually made public.
quote:
“I hate that it has to be public,” Lacy explained. “Because it’s like, if you don’t make it, what happens? Clearly you don’t get the money, but whatever. I don’t really care about that. It’s just more the negative things that are going to come.”
quote:
Lacy was effective in 2016 before ankle surgery shut him down after just five games. He has appeared in just one game for the Seahawks this season with just three yards on five carries.

I mean, if he doesn't care about money and doesn't want to weigh himself in public he could always get a desk job out of the public's eye.
Or he could realize he's an NFL football player and part of making those millions of dollars is being in the public's eye and man the frick up.
Decisions, decisions.

The original article from ESPN is much better than the one you linked, FWIW.

Once he made it to the NFL -- drafted in the second round by the Packers after running for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, capped by winning Offensive MVP honors in Bama's BCS championship victory over Notre Dame in January 2013 -- Lacy could hardly believe how easy practices were. After his first Packers workout was over, he thought to himself: "This is all we have to do?"

Not sure why these guys can't stop eating like fricking pigs when millions of dollars are at stake.

I think this is actually a part of it. In college ball you're life is way more rigidly controlled. In the NFL you have a lot more freedom.
Some guys can't handle the freedom and without rigid structure they just go nuts.

If he truly wants to silence the critics, he has two cards he could play here...

Poor Eddie. If only he had a job that paid him millions of dollars to focus on his physical fitness. If only he had access to a top notch staff of fitness trainers as well as exclusive access to top of the line training facilities.

Deleted. If a guy can't lose a little weight to make $55,000 each weak, who am I to criticize?

Problem isn't how much he eats it's that his body has slowed his metabolism over time. There are ways to speed it up though and it would be way more effective to hire him a personal trainer/nutrionist than just paying him $55k a month when he makes weight.

I think it was pretty obvious he had a real problem after this happened repeatedly in the NFL.
I don't recall hearing about this during his tenure at bama
