4 pages of why he went to Alabama and not LSU, 5 years later.

Sure would love to see Marcus Lattimore take ORotY and Clowney DRotY next season.
Congrats Bama.
Congrats Bama.

What school you play for?

It only took three posts before a gump mentioned LSU. Not all schools can cheat the way bama cheats. Congrats on Eddie lacy.

LSU doesn't hold their standards for football players any higher than Alabama does.
Ehh he wasn't going to qualify for LSU. He did at bama. I'm not saying lsu hasn't helped someone with a grade risk, but acting as if saban doesn't bend the rules is delusional.
Keiland Williams and Avery Peterson went the hargrove route. Welter, tahj Jones missed a whole season due to academics. Same with ricky Jean Francois. Lorenzo Phillips just left the program for grades. We had a te that went juco cus he didn't make grades. We seem to have clearing house issues every year. So maybe LSU does hold their players to higher standards instead if just looking the other way.

"We have these things called academic standards"
SEC Football Academic Honorees:
Alabama - 28 T4 in the SEC
LSU - 8 Last in the SEC
What "standards" would that be?

Talking about how a scholarship athlete performs in the classroom is pointless. They get extra help or just a free A for nothing depending on the professor. I've seen it in person at LSU, had friends see it at Bama, Auburn, and UGA.

Not smart enough actually. We have these things called, you know, academic standards
Every school in the SEC uses the same admissions standards for scholarship athletes (which are the NCAA minimum requirements) except Vanderbilt who chooses to hold higher standards than those required by the NCAA.
If he could get into Bama, he could get into LSU.

It was about qualifying. Having him could have jeopardized getting Ford. Knowing what we know now, obviously we would probably go back and change it. But back then, we went the smart route. Either get Lacy, possibly lose Ford, then have to scramble if Lacy has to go to JUCO to get another RB, or just take Ford and if Lacy gets in somewhere else, he gets in.
now please /ThreadHijack and lets just congratulate Lacy. He did a hell of a job this year, though I still wanna see if he can sustain this success.

Nah-uh. LSU has higher standards than Bama. They only take scholars like C Loston.

And LSU has kids going instate to Tulane so that draws from our top 25%
Tulane has 8000 undergrads. The majority are from out of state. LSU losses maybe 3000 (probably a very generous estimate) to Tulane. Actually probably not thatmany. Its doubtful the students from Louisiana who get in to Tulane would go to LSU anyway. They would probably go to a private school out of state.
LSU is better than MissState and Ole Miss academically.

Glass houses. Bama has and has had some guys that are several beers short of a thirty pack as well.

Academic rankings are so objective. In another thread someone posted how LSU was top 5 in almost every category in things such as starting and mid-level salaries for graduates. I know personally in the oil industry LSU and aTm grads are practically fought over. Its like judging cheerleading: Some are clearly better (Standford, MIT) and some are better at certain things (Bama, LSU).
Personally I would put the entire SEC at about even academically save for UF and Vandy.

But its LSU fans in this thread claiming that Lacy couldn't qualify to get in LSU. We all know that's a bunch of bullshite because LSU got Loston elgible the same year Bama got Lacy eligible.
Actually LSU fans didn't want Lacy because M Ford was gonna be better than TRich.
