so he was in the box and it should have been grounding?
Pretty sure the box is 5 yards either side of the ball. Where the RT lines up will be close, but by no means exact. Unless you get out some measuring tape, you just have to say it's too close to call.

Guessing it was because he continue to hold his jersey/pads and push, well out of bounds
He wasn't really pushing. The TE had a hold of his face mask and was pushing Payne. Once they let go, Payne was pushed by other LSU players but he didn't push back.

Looks like an bad over throw of the wr in the flats. Hurts is pretty bad with his mid range throws, notice how he had to jump to get the ball over the defenders arms, he just put too much on it, maybe he can improve over the next few years. Plus he was moving out of the pocket.

he rode him all the way to the bench

No ref is going to call something that close.
irrelevant
It's plenty relevant. Complaining about borderline judgment calls as if it is something that was some egregious miss by the officials at best or, for many on this site, evidence of some SEC conspiracy to help Alabama at worst is really pretty pathetic. Gets old.

It never does any good, so why bother? Just focus on Arkansas. Tired of the excuses.
When you play Bama, you play 11 vs. 19 (especially the replay official). So deal with it. Get better linemen. Get a better QB. Recruit better. Get better coaches. Just win the game.

I wasn't complaining
just pointing it out, which again, is what the thread is about

Payne was backpeddling and getting pushed by the TE.

He was pushing back and forth and wouldnt let go of the jersey. Once out of bounds he should have stopped. Payne made a big mistake as that could have easily been 15 yards in bama's

Every league HC does this after each game. This is not whining, it's the practical thing to do as refs, believe it or not, are graded on each game. I know Saban did it here while at LSU as he said, many times, at booster club wkly luncheons how many times he had to call the league office bout officiating. Just the still pics: well worth a phone call. Did not lose the game for LSU but 3 horrible non calls on the biggest play of the game to point.

Ed ought to be spending his spare time getting that resume polished.
He's polishing it right now.
He's telling LSU fans that they're right, the world is out to get them. He's proving beyond any doubt that he's one of them and deserves the job.
Hopefully he'll get it.

he was dragging him out of bounds and never let go
then he pushed several LSU players after the play

Well you've said Hurts was both out of the box and in the box so I'm not even sure what you think on this issue.

when I commented earlier, I only remembered what I had thought from watching the game from the opposite side of the field
from that angle I was able to change my opinion

I think it would have looked worse had he tried to stop. He was running backwards trying to tackle/pull the TE out of bounds. The TE had a hold of his face mask and was pushing trying to get an extra yard. If Payne stops backpedaling, he probably gets pushed over by the TE. Since Payne had a hold of the shoulder pads, he probably pulls the TE down with him, making it look like a tackle way out of bounds.

Watch the replay. Payne doesn't push anyone. He gets pushed by one or two guys, but he doesn't push them back.

Hire him he fits right in.

I just did.
He pushed several players and was jawing at them.
Doesn't really matter as nothing came of that play. Still have no idea how 1 offsets 3 though
