Alabama skew things in favor of the West. The SEC West is not nearly as great as the media pundits make it out. The East is down, but not nearly as terrible as the media claims. Certainly the edge goes to the West, but the simple fact is there is Alabama and then there is everyone else right now. Nobody else is close and Bama is carrying the SEC banner and has for some time.
As a whole, the SEC is not as good or as dominant as it has been. QB youth and inexperience probably explains some of it.
