I wouldn't put money on it personally, but they do lose a sizable chunk on defense. Maybe the possibility of an unpredictable shootout between the two teams is being factored in.

Right now, I'd take Clemson -21 over AU. A lot can change between now and then, though.

I think Ole Miss and Houston would win outright. If Kiffin stays at Bama, I'll take us and lay the 14.

If I were a betting man, I'd take this action.

Ban bet we go better than 1-3 in September.

I'd say 3-1 is more like it. We've proven we can hang with 'Bama, and they will again be breaking in a QB, while Chad will be a senior. Georgia will have an entirely new system and the crapshoot 'coordinator may or may not be a head coach' setup. They may not even be favored. And I'm not writing off a win over FSU. If Houston can beat them with a good offense, so can we.

I say 3-1 or 4-0. Ban bet is fine with me.

I will give Ole Miss the Georgia game. Two losses then. if Ole Miss beats Bama for a third year in a row. Freeze needs to be inducted in the Hall of Fame the next day.

This is just dumb.

At this point, Alabama has to prove it can beat Ole Miss. Two years in a row, it's been clear watching the games who the better team in the game is. Ole Miss's scheme matches up well against Alabama and it's at the point Alabama has to prove it can win against it, otherwise it's chalked up as an L. Especially with it being in Oxford and Alabama breaking in a new QB again. How'd that work out for Sims and Bateman and Coker? Not well.

I would be surprised if the camera again doesn't show droves of Alabama fans leaving with 10 minutes to go in the game because their team is down by 3 scores. IMO, Saban needs to lobby to get their game against Ole Miss moved to later in the season.

Bama just has to prove it can stop turning the ball over, turnovers in the two 6 point losses. No turnovers or just 1 or 2 turnovers, those two games would have different results.

What team turns the ball over 5 times and forces zero turnovers and STILL almost wins the game. That would be the better team. Ole Miss should have beaten Bama by 20 plus.
Had Ole Miss turned the ball over 5 times, would they have been in the game by the 4th quarter. Doubtful. They likely would have lost by 30 plus.

It's all good though, losing to Ole Miss just means a championship is coming.

Turnovers cut both ways. In 2014 Alabama scored a touchdown on a fumble caused by a facemask. The facemask fumble put Alabama up two scores but Ole Miss still found a way to come back and win the game.

Ole Miss had a comfortable lead most of that entire game and Alabama put some points on the board in garbage time. If you recall, it was a flukey illegally-batted forward ball on an onside kick that set Alabama up with an easy score to put the game within one score near the end.

And regarding the turnovers, only one by Alabama wasn't due to Ole Miss making a good play and that was the opening kickoff where your guy ran into his own guy and that only lead to 3 points.

Everything I saw from Ole Miss that day showed me that even without the turnovers, they'd have still curbstomped Bama like they did. Their offense was still scoring, turnover-induced short field or not.

Half your stadium emptied with 10 minutes to go because you were being dominated. You put up points late to make it respectable and then claim "We would've won without turnovers!!" That's horseshite. You only got that close because the game was out of reach and you put points up against a prevent defense in garbage time.

That's pretty Dan Mullenesque. Like when he had an undefeated team down by 2 scores @ Bama and he was in no hurry to score at the end of the game because he wanted to be able to walk away by only losing by one score instead of actually trying to hurry up and score for a chance for an onside kick.

Precisely and is why I say that OM dominated both of the last two games and it was clear to anyone watching which team was better that day. Take away some illegal Alabama shite and OM wins both by multiple scores.

Bama 8 turnovers
Ole Miss 1 turnover

Turnovers were equal
