I understand. I was wondering because it seemed like something too weird to make up, but I knew they were in separate conferences just a decade ago.

What happenes to GT, Wake Forest, VT, VA, and NCState in this scenario? Meaning, the southern ACC teams further from the B1G

No it isn't. Political pressure is a lot different than the Virginia Code.

I would absolutely love this addition. I would also absolutely hate all the slash/fan posters we'd start seeing who'd post about Alabama football one moment, and then UNC or Duke basketball the next.

Lulz. Bigger fish. You realize the tv ratings for UK, Duke, and UNC is huge. No one comes close to those 3.

As far as money goes, I've done a research report, and even the biggest basketball schools don't generate revenue like a football school. Only schools with major football teams or traditional football programs are even in the black. i know UNC struggled to be in the black, and I belive Duke and Kentucky didn't make it.

This just in: If this goes through, both Bama and Georgia have preemptively claimed Duke as an ultra important rivalry game that can not be missed by either of them in any year.

Alright. I couldn't remember. Still nowhere near the football schools though, correct?

The rumors in Virginia are as follows:

UVa and UNC are tying themselves together. Academically they have similar interest and UNC doesn't want to get screwed because of Duke (brings nothing to the table in football, the most important thing in this mess). UVa and UNC want to save the ACC, but if it falls apart they will leave, most likely to the B1G, but maybe to the SEC.

VT wants in the SEC, but probably would have trouble leaving until UVa found a stable spot after UVa was forced by the Governor to get VT in the ACC. There is no state law, but VT's funding could potentially be in danger.

NC State is also potentially SEC bound.

Clemson and FSU will leave for the Big 12 if Maryland gets around the buyout. GT and/or Miami may join them if the B1G doesn't want them.

that's the word in Richmond at least

They weren't in the same conferences until fairly recently...

There is no state law, but it would be tremendously unpopular in the State Legislature for VT to leave UVa high and dry. The last thing a state school wants to do is piss off the people who control the checkbook. UVa has a big enough endowment to get away with it, VT doesn't.
