For hearing people talk crap about Kirby, last time I checked, every single head coach was an assistant coach at one time and most coordinators....

Smart is the top assistant to the top Mind in Football... He will walk into a program that has averaged inside of top 10 recruiting classes for the past 15 seasons.... He also has the checkbook to hire any coordinator he sees fit.

The drive in him to be the best and seeing first hand how its done for a long period of time, tells me he has a better than 50% chance of being great...

So its not like we hired an also ran from some tiny school not to mention the great HC's are all settled in to the point I think Kirby was the best option at the end of the day for UGA from Recruiting and Preparation Standpoints.

MSU is probably the lowest on the totem pole among SECW jobs. As I said in the OP these three programs have combined for the last 5 SEC East titles

Because Florida was down, the SEC isn't balanced unless Florida is at full strength and able to counterbalance Bama (UGA balances LSU, UT balances Auburn, and then the rest of the divisions are largely immaterial because none of the other teams win conference titles.

Damn, of McElwain doesn't WI the division 3 times in his first 5 seasons with at least 2 SEC titles he's basically underachieved.

Florida fans should be happy they overachieved this year regardless of that arse kicking they have coming tomorrow.

No confirmation needed. The east has been a dumpster fire since Meyer left. Arguably, the rest of the east has been a dumpster fire for longer than that.

The strength of the divisions come directly from the current strength of their traditional powers. When Alabama is good, the west is good. When Tennessee is good, the east is good.

Why? Because Alabama and Tennessee's divisional rivals have to step up their game to compete. No coincidence that spurrier bails and richt is fired right as Tennessee turns the corner.

With a 78-50 record the past 10 seasons I guess an Aggy would know what mediocrity looks like better than anyone.

UGA settling on a coordinator with no HC is surprising

maybe somewhat, but they did the same thing when they hired Richt
