No. Why would the Sugar Bowl have any effect on that?

So after watching double digit underdogs almost win (Duke) and dominate (Oklahoma), you're now worried your big time underdog team will lose? I'm no expert, but I would be encouraged by those games.

I see your point, but watching FSU pummel a team that was owning one of the best teams on your schedule and bama last night.....welp, it just gives me the willies.

Honestly, you can chalk that up to just not being prepared. Texas A&M thought that game was going to get ugly -- the other way. I thought it was going to be one of the most humiliating defeats ever after watching the rest of the ACC get absolutely manhandled.

Trust me, Auburn will be ready. They will be watching these games and that Alabama loss will solidify that they're not unbeatable and that they need to take this seriously. IT was a good thing that those teams struggled.

Exactly. If you were confident before the Sugar bowl, why would you lose that confidence after the Bama loss? People have tried all year to look at one games and make a parallel to what will happen in another game.

Someone else already pointed it out, but two big underdogs in BCS bowls have already won, so should we look at that and think we have this in the bag?

LSU beat AU
AU beat OM
OM beat LSU

Therefore OM>AU

Because WE were the ones that had beaten them. Those were 2 of our biggest wins. Your schedule is your point of reference to compare how good your team is. It's not perfect, but it is the best tool. Our yardstick is looking like a ruler now.

I almost posted that scenario myself. You just can't put too much stock into results of another game, and think it has a lot of relevance to your teams upcoming game.

Because of one OOC loss? Oklahoma got run by Texas who in turn had gotten run by us. See how stupid that logic is?

I understand, but do you really think Bama went into the Sugar bowl as they did going into the IB. The #1 team going against their biggest rival who was #4, and playing for a chance to win a third BCSNC? Sadly for Bama I honestly don't think so.

Also, to Oklahoma's credit they came out with a game plan that was far different than what they had played prior. Totally had Bama on their heels. The QB played a game that surprised even those who watched him all year.

Your schedule definitely plays a part in gauging how good your team may be, but it isn't everything.

What does another team's performance have to do with Auburn?

Those other teams compose Auburn's resume.
When your greatest competition is struggling against teams that are decent at best, then you should be concerned. These bowl results are weakening Auburn's already thin credibility.

ACC has only won one game I think.

The difference is that Florida State only had one game that wasn't won by 30+ points, and that was a 14 point victory early in the season when they were still sorting things out.

Auburn has been battle tested. I feel very confident in AU's chances, especially considering Winston hasn't really been pressured this year. AU won't quit, and that is something FSU has only faced once this year.

Auburn has been battle tested by teams that are below their school's recent standards. Don't talk like Auburn't played great teams and won. No one's played a great team this year because there are none.

Grow a pair of ballz and stop asking what the SECr thinks about our teams chances. The only thing that happened last night was reality for Bama fans. Pull up your blue and orange panties and get ready to watch Auburn bring the FSU fanbase down to earth. They (AU) win by 10+ on Monday.

On paper, this matchup seems more respectable than last year's national title game, but Auburn is not far ahead of the rest of the FBS pack either way. I think Stanford and perhaps Michigan State would give them a challenge.

I don't think we are far and above the FBS, and that post really was more in jest to a fellow aubie (It just didn't come across that way to him). I think Auburn does what they have to do to win the games this year. Some games I thought they might just pull away and they don't. I do have confidence in them and feel they can win this game.

I also don't look at the Sugar Bowl as a way to measure how we may do in Pasadena. That is where me and the OP differ is all.

if auburn happens to beat FSU on monday, it will be the first time EVER a team has beaten three straight AP top 5 teams.

I thought it was a push and still do. Bama was not on their A game last night and Stoops was uber-prepared.

I felt confident that AU could win, but after watching A&M's struggle and bama/UGA shite the bed I'm not so sure.
UGA was without their number 1 playmaker, a host of others, played badly and still would have won if their TE catches the ball. A&M didn't play any differently than they've played all year. Bama played their worst game of the year by far and was within 7 with the ball with a minute left. OU played the best game and a far different game than they've played all year. I wouldn't read anything into those other games.

I think Auburn matches up well with FSU (outside of your DBs) and it will be a good game. Same as I thought before the bowl season.
