Some of the posters in this thread aren't getting what this thread is about.

It's not "Do you THINK Auburn is guilty," it's "do you WANT Auburn to be guilty?"

guilty:

Because I hate some of their fans that come on here for the most part. (There are a few exceptions though)

As a fairly unbiased observer, here's my opinion:

Yes, most posters want Auburn to be guilty. They'll spout all these excuses about how it's for the betterment of the SEC, but it's really so they can improve their own football standings right now. This is why you have so many demanding that something be done "immediately."

I want Auburn to finish with a goose egg in the win column this season. Hopefully before the SEC champ game.

Cam Newton is a fun player to watch, he enjoys playing the game and even if his dad was paid, it doesn't give Cam an advantage on the field.

If his dad had never started asking for money then he would be at miss state playing with their players so it did give cam an advantage on the field.

I would prefer a strong Auburn football program, it's a check on the Gumps. But if Auburn is guilty and played an ineligible Newton, they might have cost LSU an SEC championship and a shot at the BCS championship. If that turns out to be the case I hope they sanction those assholes back to the stone age.

want them to be guilty? no

but it's hard to see a scenario where things work out to clear them convincingly... what I want is a convincing verdict one way or the other

the worst possible outcome would be an opening of the floodgates where the NCAA turned a blind eye to relatives trying to sell their kids... so for this to pass the smell test Cam's father has to be convincingly cleared of the charge that he was trying to sell Cam and Auburn has to be cleared of the charge they paid him

honestly I don't give a shite, I am not intertwined with any football team. I want LSU to do well because of family but any other team that I follow is strictly out of respect or admiration. If that team loses my admiration then I just quit caring. I don't hate any team.

I'm not sure Auburn is better than MS St without Newton, this year.

As much as I'd like to see LSU with a chance to make it to the SEC Championship and maybe a chance at the NC, I'd rather them be clean. I think it is healthier for the SEC and keeps Bama in check.

I for one can not say what the majority feels or wants. In answer to your question, no I do not. As a huge college football fan I am sickened with what I am seeing regarding the "Camgate" matter. I am reasonably confident that there have been enough "violations" made by persons acting on Cam Newton's behalf to justify severe consequences for Cam and AU. It is sad that Au and it's "powers to be" have "hitched their wagon". It seems that they so desperately want to win that they have left "good judgment" behind.

Although you did not ask, I want to state that this incident, regardless of it's ultimate conclusion, is a huge stain on the credibility of the SEC. We must admit here, (among ourselves) the The current BCS "setup" has at the very least been "kind" to the SEC. We must acknowledge that the SEC was a huge promoter of the inception of the current BCS. We must also realize that these facts are not lost on many others. Therefore anything to besmirch the SEC would could and will be used against us. Finally I feel the "book" should be thrown directly at Cam Newton. No one is stating that he specifically guilty of asking for money to play. At the very least he is culpable in this matter and I find it very difficult to believe that the current head coach, AD and other officials of AU are so naive as well.
1. He (Cam Newton) should be ruled "ineligible" as a result a variety of infractions.
2. The 2010 Auburn University Football team should forfeit any and all games in which Cam Newton participated. (forfeit rather than have the "wins" vacated because of AU apparent prior knowledge of such infractions)
3. Auburn should receive the "Death Penatly" similar to the one handed to SMU.
4. Consideration should be given for Auburn University to sever it's membership with the SEC.

In summation, The SEC MUST distance itself from the sorted affair as soon as it possibly can. I realize that Auburn is a charter member of the SEC but the conference cannot let itself to fail. In addition, I feel that because a zealous program such as Auburn and greedy persons such Cam Newton exist elsewhere, but that alone should not make us all guilty.

Yes I am a LSU fan and I realize that Auburns misfortune could have residual effects for LSU. If Auburn were to be required to forfiet it's wins, LSU would still need to defeat the University of Arkansas to reach the SECCG. That is not a "slam dunk". Yes I would love to see the Bengal Tigers be considered undefeated and yes, I would love to see them in the NCG. I can only imagine the incredible meltdown from most of the ESPN talking heads.
