So it isn't good quarterbacking to exploit a mismatch? Labhart was often matched up with a safety or linebacker who played way off him and that's also a matchup he exploited nicely. Plus, many teams in the nfl have jump ball type wrs and qbs.

This I don't think will be happening in the NFL
This I think the NFL folks will like
Scramble to throw not to scramble.

I think if JFF keeps his legs, knees, and ankles healthy he will give opposing NFL teams fits. I will wait and see.

If anything yesterday boosted the idea of trading down for a boat load of picks & having top flight talent evaluators.

It helps, but the big difference between Wilson and Manziel is that Wilson plays under control and rarely forces things...that is partly why he has built up somewhat of a "game manager" label which you hear every now and then. Manziel is the complete opposite and will force plays due to his extreme belief in his own abilities. This will lead to incredible plays, but will also lead to huge negative plays and mistakes which will only become more prevalent against NFL speed on defense.
That is why I dont like the Manziel/Wilson comparison. Physically/athletically they may be very similar, but they dont match well mentally in terms of how they approach the game. Ultimately Manziel will need to start playing smarter because mistake-prone QBs lose more games than they win in the NFL due to poor decisions.

JFF has more god given Talent than Wilson so I don't think Wilson's success means dick for him

Hard to argue with that when you look at Seattle's roster full of late-round picks and free agents.
I'd sure like to see him go to Houston, though. Or failing that, St. Louis. Just please, please not Cleveland.

That may end up being correct, but personally I think a QB coach is going to tell him, "Look, kid. Our defense doesn't suck. You don't have to score a TD every series to win."... and it will all work out. We'll see.

So what you're saying is JFF would be Wilson with a
attitude and a
downside?

This isn't exploiting a mismatch, it just worked...
NFL DBs are not as likely to be exploited.
One spin might be alright, but not multiple spins running that far backwards and then a hail marry or there will be more of this...
He needs more passes like he had against Bama. Still, I think he goes número uno and I think it'll work, I'll cheer for him.

There's a reason that was a "highlight" play. It just happened. It's not JFF's bread and butter, you know.

You also have to take into account how much the A&M staff asked him to force things? In their style of offense mixed with JFF's ability to hit on these type of plays. Maybe they felt it was a good idea to ask him to do it.
I do hope he practices sliding all off season because I hope he stays healthy I would love to watch him play. I think is going to be awesome in the NFL.
If he could magically fall to the Titans I would love for them to pick him. I hope he doesn't go to Houston because I have seen enough of that quick bastard running around on Alabama, I don't want to see him doing it twice a year to the Titans.
We already have to deal Andrew Luck twice a year for the next decade

It will be interesting to see Manziel's combine stats.

Yeah, I am really interesting to see his shuttle time.

I can't watch that play:
without exclaiming "Holy shite" every single time, no matter how many times I watch it. But I hate that starting with Verne people talked about that play being his "Heisman moment", as if it was a great play. Getting away from Pagan was special, but that pass was incredibly lucky. The worst part of it was it led to a lot of folks, especially here, saying he just threw the ball up and let his receivers make a play. That's horseshite.

Wilson and JM are from different planets. Wilson is cerebral, calculating, precision, strategic. JM is what it looks like when a a very small, fast mouse is given amphetamines and plays "hoard the cheese" around a bunch of fat rats.

Probably why watching JFF is so fun to watch because it kind of does look like that.

One thing about JFF and Houston is if Houston doesn't draft him there will be hell to pay. I don't think they have much of a choice, kind of like how the fans boxed Elway into a corner with Tebow.
