We play better on the road. Ask Saban and Bama.

correct. Like I said, you can't make overrated/underrated predictions in the preseason cause NO ONE knows how good a team will be. Every thing is just a shot in the dark.

you just said if state only wins 7 or 8 games, they would be viewed as having been overrated. that's just not true to anyone that isn't a state fan. most objective people think 7 or 8 wins is about where state should end up. if they were to go 6-6 or worse, then yes people would say they were overrated. if they win 9 or more games, people would be surprised and say that state was underrated coming into the season

is this even mathematically possible?

I cannot find a scenario. 9-3 should have you at worst tied for 4th.

Nice hook

A&M will be fortunate to finish above either MS school...much less LSU

You bitch a lot about journalist. Why don't you provide some that you like.

i've never seen anyone other than rod franklin talked about favorably on this or any other message board. regardless of who it is, if a thread is started about what some football personality said, the threads will immediately become how bad that person sucks at their job.

Because most people have never seen a State team in their lifetime that has this much talent and depth.

I don't think so, we've won 9 before (2010) and it wasn't much of a shock to anyone.

A lot of espn's college football writers and analyst are terrible, but Palmer might very well be the worst

I seriously don't know what you guys use as criteria to pick good sports casters/analysts.

If they are employed for ESPN they have to read the script put in front of their face. If they are a guest of ESPN then they have a little more leeway, but not much.

If they are on the radio they just have to say the most outlandish things (positive OR negative) about the teams with the biggest fanbases.

There are no real analysts anymore except for maybe Jon Gruden. He's seriously the ONLY opinion on football I take seriously.

and state fans, for whatever reason, think that they're the only other team in the conference. everyone is well aware of what states has. they're just also aware of what the rest of the sec has in comparison

um, it was a shock to literally everyone and catapulted mullen into being talked about as one of the hottest up and coming coaches in the country. absolutely no one expected state to win 9 games. the media's prediction for state going into 2010 was 6-6 and making a bowl game. espn, for instance, had state going to the bva compass bowl preseason in 2010 LINK

a lot of State fans will tell you that they expected 7-8 regular season wins that year. I don't care what people predicted what we would do. I'm referring to own fan opinions.

which is why i said no one outside of starkville thinks state will likely win more than 7 or 8 games this year. just because some homers in starkville happened to be right in 2010 doesn't change anything about state's generally viewed expectations in 2010 or 2014. i could find a group of fans who have predicted the right number of total wins for any single season for any single team since the beginning of time. that doesn't change the fact that those teams may have under or over achieved what they were expected to by most. but, you're entitled to your opinion, and if you think 8 wins would be disappointing, then you're free to think that. however, small schools not meeting unrealistic expectations is exactly the type scenario state fans love to hate on ole miss fans for

umm many CFB analyst have predicted 9+ wins

I never said I would be disappointed. 8 wins seems to be a common pick, but I think this team is better than 8 wins.

Yea I've never seen a reporter really lauded on here. I'm just curious about him because I just saw him bitching about another journalist and was curious about his opinion on who was good or reliable

many? most have state at 7 or 8. just because a couple of guys have made that prediction doesn't mean those opinions aren't outliers to the norm.

Not near as negative as he is about Florida

I don't agree with him in the least -- I think y'all take 2nd when all is said and done -- but I can see the arguments. If the new QBs pan out at TAMU and Bama, the West is going to be rough this year. Yes, even Ole Miss.
