I heard he was going to try a position change. He is pretty big and talk radio was speculating maybe a tight end. I bet he transfers out of conference.

Does Auburn need a WR/TE? That's what he says he wants to do. That said, I doubt Hurd plays for another team despite what's been said about transferring. IMO, he'll hire a trainer and head to the draft.

Hurd was not arrested and dismissed iirc.

Seriously tho he's going to the draft. He has not graduated so unless he goes to FCS, he will have to sit out 2017, play his final season in 2018 and enter the draft five years removed from high school with a ton of mileage on his legs.

1) Does Butch use the imaginary "Saban rule" where he will not allow transfers to other SEC schools? There is no such rule on the books, but Saban (and now Smart at UGA) enforces it as if it is a real rule (it's not).

2) If he is allowed to transfer, he would have to sit his senior year, so it is sort of pointless. That is unless he can somehow finagle a graduate transfer and play in 2018. But why waste that time when he could just go to the NFL combine and hope for the best?

3) AU could use him at TE. Gus would make it work and probably increase his NFL value.

He wants to be a TE as it's his only shot at a long term NFL career.

He'll likely be a grad transfer after this year but I bet he gets blocked from the SEC.

He wouldn't need to sit out if he graduates college. He'll become a grad transfer and grad transfers don't have to sit out.

He should test the NFL waters first.

Sure, if he wants to be 3rd or 4th on our depth chart.

This was the issue to me and why I was shocked at the transfer. It makes no sense at all to transfer at this point in his career unless he is a graduate transfer, which he is not. The whole situation is fricking strange.

Don't want. We only take druggies and thiefs. We don't want a loser who quit on his team

I think this is the true story. When quitting on your team mid-season, it sounds better to say you're transferring than to say you're QUITTING. He'll hire a trainer to get him ready for the draft as an NFL tight end, and he could be a great one.
