I know this is a troll thread, but to offer a serious response...
I think Nick Saban thrives in college and that's where he really wants to be. I think after winning the big one at LSU he thought that he ought to give the pros a try, and he didn't like it. He didn't like the attitudes of some of the players, he didn't like the lack of control he could get in the college game, and so he decided to go back because he figured out it was what he really wanted.
I get that it sucks for LSU fans (and for anyone who doesn't like Alabama since they are the principal beneficiaries), but I think he would have gone back to LSU if he had the choice. He just saw an opportunity at a big time SEC program, wanted back in the college game, and took it.
I seriously don't understand the outright animus towards Saban.

This is a very original and thought provoking question.
I think I will save to pdf, print and read again in the morning while taking a dump.

Don't drink too much Mad Dog or put too many licks on your old lady between now and then.
God bless.

I would ask the same of Les, but it appears he doesn't really give a frick about what goes on in BR.

There isn't as much as most people think. Most LSU fans greatly appreciate CNS(myself included)..
Most realize he back channeled a bit, and that his old job was not available.
Most LSU fans(myself included) loved Bama fans until CNS arrived, as both are built similarly, and LSU modeled after Coach Dietzel and later Bear disciple Cholly Mac..always tailgated well together,etc..
But, it's now game-on, and need to troll Tidefans..
They won the rematch from GOC for natty, and LSU Baseball won the 1997 CWS over Tide 13-6 after being drilled 28-2 in SEC Tourney two weeks earlier..
They're sorta on a roll in many sports right now, just as when Saban was at LSU, he has a spillover effect like that on his current school as a whole..
So..F Bama!

Oh, you'll get no argument from me. I just have a lot of respect for Saban and have been able to separate my admiration of him from my hatred of Alabama
I still hate Alabama and would prefer they lose every game until the end of time, but I can appreciate the job Saban has done and continues to do.

Does it weigh on Leslie's mind that his team is in a downward spiral right now? Or does he even GAS?

Thus, you realize that many LSU fans see CNS midlife NFL/Holtz/SOS/Hayden Fox/etc..wanderlust, costing LSU it's dynasty, and a run on the U/Neb/Tide/Notre greatest runs of alltime.

Quiet, Forrest.

Costing you your dynasty? You had a run that consisted of national titles in 2003 and 2007 and are still considered one of college football's premier programs. Y'all have done alright

I would think it very well does, and may play a very small part in the push to steal Smart, besides Kirby's many obvious credentials, skills, and accolades.

Many LSU fans can make a case that LSU may have one for the thumb..if Saban had stayed in BR.

I still think y'all are too hard on Miles, but I understand why.
I've always liked Da Tigahs, so my best to your team (so long as it has no bearing on my beloved Volunteers)
