A&M returns only 5 starters back from a defense that folded like a Kmart pup tent in 4th qts last year...you guys allowed like what...seven teams to gangbang your azzs for over 37 points a game?

You say that like only returning 5 starters from that train wreck is a bad thing. I think clearing out some of that crap is good.

It is very hard to predict because there are so many unknowns. Those unknowns cut both ways though for A&M.

We have a pretty good idea of what Florida is. Great defense that is big up front and talented all the way around. Lots of questions on offense and no clear QB with both QB's having struggled up to this point in practice. No real playmakers but still solid talent. Florida wants to play low scoring games that they can wear teams down and beat them in the 2nd half.

With A&M it is a question of who we are. A&M was a team that went 7-6 last year but it was also a team that was favored in 12 of 13 games. A&M was a team that lost a ton of leads in the 2nd half but it also was a team that only was beaten soundly in 1 game at OU. The talent is there, the execution and conditioning is the question. New everything in that regard from coaches to strength and conditioning to systems.

A&M has more questions though. The OL is the strength which should be huge considering the Front 7 is the strength for Florida. With the athletes and system A&M has they don't need a lot of time and space to do damage, it's a very fast offense all around. On one hand you also have a Frosh QB starting which is a huge red flag. On the other hand that Frosh QB has been on campus for almost 2 years already as an early enrollee RS and he won the job over 2 other veteran QB's. He also performed glowingly in both Fall Scrimmages and no one that has seen him questions his talent and playmaking ability. Will he shine or falter under the big lights? One thing is certain though, if you are going with a Frosh QB it is nice for him to have 2 Future 1st Round Draft Picks playing OT to help keep him safe. Don't think A&M is just some finesse offense either. That big OL also is blocking for a mean SOB of a RB in Christine Michael. He is about 225 lbs and carved out of wood and he is an absolute burner.

On defense there is solid talent with at least 2 legit playmakers in Moore and Porter. The question is the 2nd and 3rd team guys are a drop off. Can Florida maintain drives long enough to wear down the D? If they start playing from behind do they start making mistakes?

I also don't think the environment can be under stated. Tickets for this game are going for $3-500 to start. The anticipation in BCS is off the charts for the first SEC game. It is going to be crazy and loud. Certainly Florida has seen that before but still it will be a new environment. A&M is just a different atmosphere with 30k students that stand the entire game and do coordinated yells and songs. They do as good of a job at making it impossible for an opposing offense to hear anything as you will find while getting so quiet you can hear the Aggie QB calling the snap from the 3rd Deck when we are on offense as anywhere I have seen. The Aggie Nation wants this one BAD.

Personally I think if A&M can hold on to the football and not get too amped up they win. Florida is a good team but it isn't LSU or Bama. Florida is certainly capable though and the Aggies have enough question marks to make it so that no one really knows.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in stats from last year for good or bad to predict this game either. A&M played in an offensive minded league last year where almost everyone ran a no huddle if not a hurry up and slung it around. Tannehill was the #8 pick in the draft and many would argue he was no better than the 4th best QB as well. Just the volume of plays alone in the B12 compared to the SEC was significant enough to throw off the stats. It's how A&M could have the dichotomy of leading the nation in sacks and being one of the "worst" teams against the pass. The truth is somewhere in between.

Same logic applies to UF. They didn't face a ton of high powered offenses that rolled up big stats and ran a ton of plays. Remember WVU had some huge numbers against LSU but that didn't make LSU into a crappy defense.

UF isn't used to travelling outside the state of FL for OOC games. While that hasn't changed, this will have the feel of an OOC game

People love to bring this up, I highly doubt this is a factor. We don't play in Arizona too often yet didn't have a problem killing Ohio State a few years ago. Location of the game is not something that is going to bother UF players.

All but two practices were closed. The last open one that got some much attention was a "light" practice.

The truth is we have very little in the way of knowledge about how each QB performed in camp because no one was given access. Unless of course, you want to base everything on that last open practice.

I'd say there are five legit playmakers. You have to add Jenkins, Stewart, and Nealy to that list. Steven Campbell (if ever healthy) is a vicious headhunter.

Just bought my tickets for this game. I'll be driving ~3 hours to get there so I hope it's worth the trouble. And I got raped by stubhub because I didn't apply for Alumni Association tickets early enough.

Florida wins by creating turnovers on that pass happy offense. Florida plays field position and possession and capitalizes on TAMU's mistakes. And UF be afraid of Kyle? Once you've started your first game at Tiger Stadium vs. the #1 ranked team in the country, Kyle won't be any more intimidating than Bobby Dodd (plenty of history, the team lacks the same bite)

It's really about the A&M skill position on offense vs. Florida skill positions on defense.

TURNOVERS - that's the name of the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS - both teams have playmakers.

I think there will be more points scored because of dramatic shifts in field position due to those 2 factors.

Maybe both QBs for UF will be great. Still, didn't they throw something like 6 ints combined in the last scrimmage? I don't think saying they have "struggled" is much of a stretch.

BTW, didn't UF get hammered playing LSU last year? I don't see how mentioning that game really helps your cause. Still, I don't expect UF to be shocked that Kyle Field is a tough environment but that doesn't mean it won't be a factor. It's going to be really hot and really loud with the A&M bench in the shade.

How was Muschamp as a player, UGA fans? He seems like he has a hardcore passion for the game (and somewhat over the top at times).

It wasn't a scrimmage.

I didn't mention LSU.

Why would you mention hot? Have you ever been to Gainesville in the summer?
