Not sure when but I guarantee you Mitch will be the starter by the time we play Mizzou.

I've thought this since the schedule was released.

Would you guys want that, though? Honestly? If Mitch beats out a fifth year senior for the starting spot then he must be doing something right in the eyes of Spurrier. If he does take over the reigns then he will have the talent to compete now. Wouldn't you guys rather have the mediocrity you know in Thompson than the possibility that you don't in Mitch?

Wait, I remember, he's our backup QB that beat 3 ranked teams the past 2 seasons. How many ranked teams did everyone else's backup QB's beat?

If you think Dylan Thompson deserves a W against Mizzou, you need to get your head checked. That would be like a pitcher giving up 6 runs in 4 innings and getting a Win somehow.

I know most Mizzou fans have tired to block this game out, but do yall not remember it was Mike Davis fumbling twice in the redzone and not Thompson?

I don't think Thompson played spectacular in that game, but he wasn't the reason we were shut out going into the 4th, and he sure as shite outplayed Mauk

Honestly, I was hoping we could be the ones to drive the final nail in the Thompford coffin, but the way things have unfolded this off-season (DGB specifically) we may not have the horses to beat y'all this year, Thompford or not. At the very least, the odds got considerably longer.

So how do you feel about Week One against A&M?

Everything about it screams trap game to me. The most hyped opener on the most anticipate Network rollout in cable history, Aggie (and Sumlin) being completely overlooked and written off without Manziel, sc with a quarterback trying to replace a legend.

It's the stuff SEC Storied is made of.

First game of the season against an SEC team screams trap game to you? What kind of stupid are you?

I probably feel the same way every fan feels before every game/season. Total and illogical certainty that this is the moment when we make our mark and stamp the young season by winning in historic fashion.

Definitely in the realm of possibility. I don't think you can look at a Sumlin led team and overlook it's offensive prowess, so I don't think we'll be looking past them to ECU/UGA... They aren't a shitty enough team (no matter how much they lose on offense or return on defense) to qualify as a trap game, IMO. Kentucky or Vandy get that honor this year (no offense to those guys... well, not much at least).

Ya that interception he threw was a thing of beauty, greatest jump throw in college history.

Trap game may not be the correct verbiage. Doesn't discount that no one gives A&M a shot in hell to win.

yea I don't consider him that mediocre, the only way I see him out is if he gets beat up too bad. you guys return most of what's a pretty solid OL iirc, right?

i think the whole topic is a somewhat troll-reach, but I'm still interested in what you think about his chance of success and your O-line.

I'll tell you this... I don't think he's going to have a 24-1 TD/Int ratio like Shaw, that's for sure. He puts the ball in danger too much for my liking, but his arm is stronger than Shaw's. I think our line has a distinct possibility to be the best line that we've had under Spurrier and it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to say it could be one of our best ever. Whether that possibility comes to light remains to be seen. They gave Shaw a lot of time last year, and he did seem to run from danger that wasn't there more often than in previous seasons. If they can progress from what they did then Thompson should remain healthy as long as he doesn't get happy feet trying to unnecessarily emulate Shaw too much.
