also comparing what A&m did to this is ridiculous. What UT is trying to do is what A&M did to the 100th degree. They're not very comparable at all.

We pulled off the Red, White, and Blue-out, post-911 ... with little more than a week or two of planning.
that is far easier to pull off though, as there's only 3 things to tell people. Top section red, middle section white, lower level blue. Done.
This one varies section to section, so people will actively have to look online to see what color to where based on their seat. Lots of people, especially older folks, just aren't going to go to the trouble. I hope they pull it off though, because it would definitely look cool.

Florida returned a good portion of their tickets.

They didn't advertise it by decks; they advertised it by stadium section.
Same premise.
Many people who weren't season ticket holders didn't know what deck of the stadium in which their ticket was located; so advertising by deck wouldn't have been helpful.
Shirts weren't laying on seats; they had to be purchased ahead of time (or people simply chose to wear R, W, or B on their own).
Again, just takes some creativity.
You really don't need 100% participation to pull off the effect.

im sure in certain areas it will look really cool. other areas will struggle.

I doubt it's a success. It was an idea started by a fan and UT athletic/marketing just started promoting it less than a week ago. They would have to put shirts on the seat, like Oklahoma did, for it to work.
I bet half the folks who attend the game will not have heard we are trying to do this.

The national sentiment after 9/11 made what the Aggies did easier. Most Americans were fired up and feeling patriotic.

yeah that's a big factor for sure.

I wish the school would spend some of the Women's AD money to make this happen.

Would be awesome but don't think we'd ever pull it off

The only way I see it happening is to put shirts in the seats.
Posted on 9/29/14 at 11:35 am to DoUrden
Agreed but I really have no idea what something like that would cost
If they could get the shirts for $10 a piece (maybe a little high) it would cost the AD $1,000,000 to get $100,000 so I don't see that happening

You can get cheap shirts in bulk for about $4.00, a bit more with printing.
Free shirts would cost a half-million.
