There's salves and then there's creams and oils. And then there's dick butter ... which is not really butter at all, although it may have been at one time - I dunno. Could have been whale blubber too I suppose and over the decades it could have morphed from blubber to butter. But that's not really a salve. My grandmother used to make salves out of rendered beef tallow and herbs. My great grandfather made incredible pain killer salves outta moonshine and rattlesnakes along with rosemary and mint. We called it his snake medicine. Wish I had some of that stuff.
