Yes and no. Good fortune can give you opportunities you wouldn't otherwise have had but the best teams take full advantage of said opportunities while other teams tend not to.

I believe in happenstance. That's a boring concept for most, but it's never discussed because it can't be used to fit agenda driven narratives.

Of course. You see, how a ball bounces is pure luck, a ref screw up is pure luck, and most injuries are pure luck.

Luck in involved in life. No matter what realm. The phrase I'd rather be lucky than good was not created by accident. Sometimes its what we do, OTOH sometimes it just goes our way in this world no matter what we do.
