For those not clicking the link: Bama is #2 in CBB recruiting rankings for this year now after a big 4-star pick up from Mobile.

Rather early to be jumping up and down about that considering UConn is currently 9th and Rutgers is 8th.

Alabama had a rep for MASSIVELY underachieving in basketball forever. Mainly due to basically trying to recruit instate, which is fine but Bama never went after the in state kids that Duke, UNC and UK were going after. Duke had a starter named Antonio Lang from Mobile that won 2 national titles and Bama didn't recruit him because they didn't think he would come. Bama desperately needed a coach that could see what Bama could be. Bama's large collective isn't hurting either. In todays world Bama doesn't lose Demarcus Cousins, Lang or Ben Wallace.

It is baffling this dude didn't get recruited out of high school, nor was he drafted.

Early? 99% of the class is signed.

You realize Rutgers signed 2 of the 4 best players in the country, right?

Saying it was early because Rutgers is ranked high is a pretty clear sign you are an alter or don't know shite. Tough scene.

I didn’t infer early in a context of the recruiting rankings were subject to change.

I inferred Rutgers still won’t do shite and if tournament runs meant anything like the OP inferred, UConn wouldn’t be 9th and Purdue wouldn’t be 18th.

It’s too early to forecast the season and assess how “scared” everyone else is.

Another football and basketball year like this one and they may have a rep for MASSIVELY dropping the ball in the final four.

The SEC is still licking their wounds after those beatdowns. fricking embarrassing. For the SEC and for Saban. Not for Bama fans as much because they have zero shame.

All of this. The state of Alabama has had plenty of good talent in the past that just didn't land in Tuscaloosa. Oats has a different mindset and it seems to be paying off. I'm a fan from the old public television days when you could see games during the week. Sorry about the link guys a description would have been nice.

Not really. Every team in the top 20 has between 4 and 10 recruits. Sure some will add a few and there will be some shuffling. Almost all classes usually have 5 to 10 recruits based upon returning roster. If you look at this years current rankings they are:

1 - Duke: 8 commits (all 8 have signed or transferred in)
2 - Bama: 7 commits (6 of 7 have signed or transferred in)
3 - Zona: 5 commits (4 of 5 have signed or transferred)
4 - Baylor: 5 commits (all 5 have signed or transferred)
5 - Arkansas: 4 commits (1 of 4 transferred)

Compare that to last year’s final recruiting rankings.

1 - Kentucky: 11 commits
2 - Duke: 5 commits
3 - USC: 5 commits
4 - Baylor: 6 commits
5 - Uconn: 6 commits

It is not rather early in 2024 basketball recruiting. It IS 2024.
