Yes ... I always pull for SEC teams out of conference.

Having a bad conference can frick you over, so yes I want my conference and its teams to be good. I root for every SEC team when they're playing Non-SEC.

Which is why it doesn't make sense for the also-rans in this conference to cheer for the big boys. In my opinion coattail riding is more pathetic than penis envy.

Always pull for the SEC however if we lose to them I pull against that team cause Frick them. If we beat them I pull for them to win out so we have a stronger win.

However I always pull against the BIG1.

I always want to see Bama lose. Always.

Other than that, I tend to pull for the SEC in OOC games. There are occasional exceptions here and there--especially when it benefits my team. But the majority of the time, yes.

Also-ran fans should cheer for SEC, while pulling their programs up by bootstraps into Champeen status, and if SEC status remains at the top of a said sport, then voila, winnning the SEC means being Natty Title W caliber ready.

To call cheering SEC as coattail riding, is imho, an acceptance as full-time irrevocable losers, it's an acceptance of defeat, that my school will never be a big boy..thus taking a crybaby scorched Earth policy.

If you have plenty hardware in tow(aka a mentally healthy posture of your school's programs), and are for SEC stature remaining nationally elite, you cheer SEC to dominate across the board, be it whatever sport, school,etc..

The easiest way to gauge where a developing program stands towards winning natty hardware in a sport, is to be in a conference where it's programs are among the sport's biggest heavyweights and natty crown winners.

If it's a bowl game or a regular season game against an OOC opponent that USC has scheduled later in the year then yea I'll pull for the conference. Outside of that it's a crap shoot depending how I feel about the teams involved. I rooted for WVU against Bama and Wisconsin against LSU this year but I pulled for LSU against Oregon, just depends on the teams.

I'll pull for the SEC teams to win big out of conference games, but to lose to shitty teams. I don't mind when Georgia clowns Clemson, and also enjoy seeing Arkansas lose to Rutgers.

Likewise.

I hate our conference/division foes as much as the next guy, but also realize that them doing well OOC strengthens the perception (and reality) of the SEC being the strongest conference in CFB. Not to mention it makes wins over those same foes mean more.

No. The big12 is nothing like the SEC. Their whole concept of "conference pride" nowadays is a direct reaction to losing two schools to the SEC.

Everyone hated everyone in the big12, and look where it's gotten them.

OR..................... Maybe they were remembering the 2010 BCSNCG and wanted some retribution from that game. That, and the fact that they could say that they destroyed the team that beat the mighty Alabama.

I was pro-LSU vs Wisconsin.

I'm pretty pro-SEC unless it's Rocky Top and Aubie. I want Rocky Top to lose every game. It depends with Aubie.
