What deal? What did LSU get from A&M in return?

LSU got better coaching, assured offensive domination over aTm defense, and soon our $200k!

TAMU got extremely high priced mediocre coaching, excuses to keep Sumlin, and even worse defensive recruiting that cost an additional $200k!

LSU will soon have the longest winning streak in a very old series!

Edit: Down voted but not refuted.

Chavis fielded consistently very good defenses at LSU. That's a fact. His worst year was 2013 and it was I think the 21st ranked scoring defense.

He's very solid when he has the right players and an offense that knows how to manage a game.

but he has to have elite talent

these two things can't coexist, pick one. Chavis is a lazy, mediocre coordinator who piggy-backed off of LSU and Tennessee's elite talent for years and his antiquated, shitty scheme is finally getting exposed. Having literally no tricks other than using DL to contain while your DB's man up doesn't really work unless you have Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson back there to cover your uncreative arse

Is Chavis a better defensive coordinator than Mark Snyder?

That is without question.

Is he worth being the highest paid defensive coordinator in football? No.

Again, you are missing the point. All Chavis has to do is field a "decent" defense if our offense wasn't crippled by a certifiable dumb shite as the HC. Chavis has always had a good defense. His problem at LSU was that their offense sucked.

Anyone that thinks our problems are Chavis isn't paying attention to what is happening at A&M.

Well after firing Sumlin, y'all should make him HC for the next 6 years.

If at first you don't succeed try for 12 years of mediocrity!

Are you actually here to talk football or just act like a chode? Seriously? Or are you just stupid? I can't tell which.

Now why would we fire Sumlin only to make John Chavis the HC? Especially when he has stated that he has no desire to be a HC.

All you needed was a top 50 D and it was gameover for everyone else. Thats what we were told

I cant wait till Aggie has to pay up for "stealing Chef"

1) Can't ask for your bosses job until he leaves the building!
2) I'm sure he would refuse temp HC and HC if offered.
3) Someone needs to look up big words like "sarcasm" instead of diagnosing their penis problems like "chode"!

Football talk for the mentally, phallically, and sarcastically impaired:
1) Sumlin has been a disaster.
2) TAMU keeping him for six years is utterly ridiculous.
3) Chavis is a fair to good DC as long as he has overwhelming talent.
4) aTm is paying way to much for Chief and are overlooking his short comings while putting 100% of blame on Sumlin. UCLA disaster was 60-40 Sumlin-Chavis!
5) Aggie administration poor coaching decisions makes the sarcastic suggestion of making the Chief HC a funny possibility. But continued Aggie love for a DC that has averaged giving up about 44 points a game in his last three outings is stupid, chodish, and should not be taken seriously!

Have a nice day!

The biggest problem was that the QBs sucked but Chavis' defenses were a sieve late in tight games. And that's with half the D going on to the NFL. His lack of recruiting eventually became a big problem as well.

While I generally agree with this premise, Chavis did not scheme a logical defense with A&M having lost their starting QB and a 34 point lead at the half. The only way UCLA gets back in the game is through passing. Chavis should have double-covered key receivers and forced UCLA to run the ball and chew up clock. UCLA would have scored some TD's no doubt, since the A&M offense was completely inept in the 2nd half, but the Bruins would have probably run out of time having been forced to run the ball.

I agree and disagree with this.

I agree that Sumlin is a dumbass.

I disagree that Chavis wasn't part of the problem. I don't care how dumb the offensive play calling is, the defense got GUTTED in the second half. 300+ yards? And there were at least 3 balls that should have been easy picks. Rosen threw shite up in the air like he didn't give a frick where it landed. Into triple coverage, off his back foot, etc., etc., etc. It is laughable that the media put him on a pedestal after that game, he made a lot of fundamentally terrible throws. To not be able to stop that is a combination of a lack in coaching, talent, and football IQ on A&M's defense.

Some of his throws were terrible throws and he was lucky to complete them. It reminded me of Manziel when he was at A&M. He had a lot of games where he did the exact same thing. And the media put Manziel on a pedestal after those kind of games as well.

Manziel was an excellent passer. We don't win the 2012 Bama game without his accuracy
