Turned on the TV to SEC last night...and it went black until the announcement came on from Spectrum (provider) that Disney had blacked out the SEC channels and the ESPN channels And any other channels they own.

According to Spectrum, they made a "fair offer" but Disney refused and demanded "an exorbitant amount."

I suppose reruns of The Brady Bunch are in my immediate future.

I don't know how ppl aren't doing Youtube TV or Hulu TV by now

Blows my mind my parents (and other ppl their age) keep their cable despite me showing them how the streaming TV services are superior

Better than most new shows, so not a total loss.

I encountered the same shite. Disney's greed is alive and well. I will be cutting the cord soon. Fubo TV is a good option.

Are they really? By the time you add the channels you really want (ie NFL Redzone) you are paying the same price as you are for cable. Plus… the biggest expense with cable is not the TV programming, it’s the internet. I’ve found cable internet to be much better than other options available.

Hulu TV

That's what we have in our home. That and ESPN+ work great for me during college football and baseball seasons.

YOUTUBE TV went through this ESPN loss recently as well. It's all a power struggle and I'll go ahead and cut to the chase. Greed wins.

is it superior when you end up with 6 streaming services at $10-15 each? and thats just the base packages.

streaming was an awesome solution but its becoming like cable again.

I just signed-up for a 21 free day trial with YT. As I approach the end of my free trial, if Disney/Spectrum have not settled their dispute, I'm cancelling Spectrum streaming and staying with YT. Anything associated with the Disney Corp. is a fricking mess. Last night's blackout was unacceptable .. Disney/Spectrum don't give a #$@$% about their customers. I'm fed up with them.

Or FUBO. I went with YouTube this season just to see how they are, but had FUBO the last two seasons. Streaming is the only way to go....and I am an old, old guy.

Smart leverage by Disney. They have Spectrum over a barrel with football season starting and timed their demands perfectly.

Not true at all.

I had Dish and DirecTV at different times. Costs with internet was about $227 a month with no extras.

Now I have Internet, Netflix, HBOMax, Amazon Prime, and YouTube TV for $170 during football season and drop YouTube and pay $105 a month in off season. Internet is 1000MB speed.

Disney will offer a 50% discount if you cut off your balls and throw on a wig. Something to consider.

to be fair, Ron did most of the Florida fans on this site a solid in keeping them from watching that abomination last night.

Cutting off right at game time was a bullshi* move. This is between Disney and Spectrum. Disney showed what they feel about people. need to sell ESPN.

It’s just basic take it or leave it contract negotiations. Spectrum didn’t offer enough. So, Disney strong-armed using SEC fans as leverage. Greed now runs every level of CFB.
