Matt Patchan stuff is insignificant.
Debose stuff is only significant if HE took the money. If the coaches spent money on him, that's different. He didn't actually accept anything.
Still will probably need to sit him for the short term.
Hill's involvement seems extremely limited. Although if more comes out he could lose his job.

"Endless river of money from SEC" I think things are going to get real nasty for some schools in SEC in the next 12 months.

“Miami is not the school where payouts are made to prospective student athletes,” Shapiro said. “Miami is a private institution, it’s in a transient city. We didn’t have the money to pay recruits. There is so much more money in big public universities. In the SEC, the money is an endless river.
“If Miami relied on cash payoffs for players to come to Miami, they’d be out of business. They’d lose every bidding war.
“Eighty percent of the players came from the area, from Miami-Dade, Overtown, Liberty City, Belle Glade. The other 20 percent fell in love with the city. While the school obviously isn’t in Miami Beach, it’s considered the hottest scene in the country.”
He said he heard all the stories of how other programs recruit from the Miami players who considered going elsewhere. He was also a confidant to various assistant college and high school coaches. And he regularly entertained players from other schools who were friends with Hurricanes.
The reality of college football, he said, is nothing like it’s presented on television. The cheating is rampant.
“It’s everywhere,” he said. “Everywhere that it matters. Most people can’t even understand it.”

Man. Schools that have a large footprint in South Florida should be nervous.

I'm just happy a certain South FL DB wasn't named.
Then again if they said Patrick Peterson we could just play dumb and say Miami never had a Patrick Peterson committed, they had a Patrick Johnson.
Lame joke is lame... I know.

SEC... endless river of cash... blah blah blah...
Someone will have to prove that it's happening that rampantly at Florida before I'll believe it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say yes.

Don't forget the 2 coaches involved currently on Bamas staff.

What they may have done at Miami has nothing to do with Alabama. Even if their actions at UM are true, it's minor compared to some of the stuff in that article. Regardless, Stoutland is the only on-the-field assistant of the two. He could be replaced by Joe Pendry for the year, if there is cause.

Exactly. If Bama finds out they cheated while at Miami, we likely fire them. Unless they cheated for Bama, it matters not.

Well, Aubrey might not have his job if this turns out to be true on his behalf.

He also put bounties on specific players, including Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow and a three-year standing bounty on Seminoles quarterback Chris Rix from 2002 to 2004, offering $5,000 to any player who knocked him out of a game.

quote:With the statement they released and me assuming, they may already have. Looks like if Bama knew about it and knew there wasnt anything to do with it, they would have said that in the press release. That is assuming that they knew about all of this well before today though.

Anyone think that this guy may not make it out of jail alive?
Posted on 8/17/11 at 8:15 am to parkjas2001
No. There's too much money invovled now if he's indicted the SEC. He'll be assassinated in jail. I think it's a terrible shame on one hand... but the guy made this decision on his own. It's not like he's selling out some crooked cops... he's selling out the people with all the money. Historically, this seems to be what has gotten Presidents killed.
The worst thing about all of this is that the freaking season is about to start and this new hound dog media is detracting from that.
The MOST interesting thing about this to me is, if everyone is cheating, than the NCAA can't do anything about it.
