I didn't say I had it completely planned out. Just thought it would be a neat way to give more legitimacy to the random bowl games since there's so many.
People may not be a fan of neutral sites, but Bama and FSU stand to make around $5 mil off the opener in ATL in 2017. Just like the bowls, pro stadiums and other venues could attempt to turn it into a major game for both teams involved. It seems to work for the post season, and once the final rankings (outcome of bowl season) are done, you can figure out who should play who fairly quickly.
That's about 8 months for the schools and their fans to plan for the opener. Plenty of time.

The problem with the conference schedule is not that teams only play 1 rotating cross division opponent per year.
The problem is that the division games are mandated every season (I could care less about playing Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee every year... and I'm not in a rush to play a lousy Miss St, Arkansas, or Ole Miss more often).
The quicker we can find a way to keep 3 permanent conference opponents and rotate the rest, the better we will be.
(Why conference fans want to kiss away a home game baffles me)

I actually tried looking at this a while back during a slow day at work. The math is pretty damn tricky lol
