I think you meant why is UK so insecure.
The question in the OP is more than fair.
WVU lost to kansas in football, and just got beat handedly in basketball by Mizzou.
Not long ago many thought WVU was the better choice than Mizzou.

I agree. The Reds will never actually win anything, which is a big reason Kentucky fans couldn't care less about baseball.

Well, since you brought up the WVU basketball into the conversation…they HAVE BEEN TO A FINAL 4.

If you notice on this site…SEC baseball is followed…UK fans on this site (Grits, Bho, Belle, Catfan, and myself) are loyal and follow the Cats.

And their football has been to the BCS. Thought you would have included that too.
These two arguments are a big reason why fans and media thought WVU was the better choice (Take note fawx).
This thread isn't about UNC or VT. There was a two man race for the final spot after Texas AM was invited. It was between MU and WVU.

Frankly, I always wanted Mizzou in the SEC - but in the SEC West.
At first, I didn't want A&M because I thought Texas would use them as a lead into the SEC. Nothing really against A&M - I just DID NOT want Texas.

I like how it worked out, being in the East but getting Arkansas as the cross rival.
I sure hope ut is never a member of this conference. I could see how you'd be weary of A&M.
