Did UGA really run away from Clowney?

Part of a longer story from SC newspaper, basically Clowney throwing the rest of the team under the bus, saying UGA just ran away from him and the rest of the defense didn't step up.

What a selfish bastard.

quote:

USC defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward said the Gamecocks coaching staff talked about Georgia's keep-away strategy at halftime. They tried to make adjustments. Clowney lined up at right and left defensive end in the second half. For the second straight game, he was at nose guard – in the middle of USC's defensive line.

Nothing worked.

“I'd hate to evaluate him,” Ward said after the game Saturday night. “I know he had a sack, and I thought he played hard, but everything went away from him. They ran the ball away from him the entire day.

“We've got other players on this team other than JD who have to step up and play.”

For USC, that's no surprise. The Gamecocks knew entering the season other players – such as senior defensive end Chaz Sutton and junior tackle Kelcy Quarles – had to hold their end. So far, they haven't. Sutton has seven tackles, 2.5 for loss with no sacks. Quarles has six tackles and just one sack. The linebackers are young and inexperienced, and it's showed.

After the game Saturday, coach Steve Spurrier said he'll talk with Ward this week. There will be defensive changes, something he reiterated during Sunday's teleconference – though Spurrier said he didn't want to “spill all the beans” on what would be different.

One thing's clear: finding a way to get Clowney more involved will be at the heart of USC's adjustments.

It won't be easy. Now, there's a blueprint, a proven way to limit Clowney's havoc. When USC hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday night in Columbia, it will likely face the same game plan it defended the past two weeks.

The fact is, UGA didn't run away from him. They ran wherever the hell they felt like.

In separate comments from Clowney that we've already seen, him throwing his team under the bus for his own inability to make big plays is selfish.

Correct, the snip I posted is the coach, the Clowney quotes have already been posted 50 or 60 times. Do you need me to dig them up?

Why do Carolina fans and their media make up lies about UGA running away from Clowney, when the fact is UGA it right at him? Clowney lined up left, right and even at nose, and was well-blocked on all but 1 play when he sacked Murray early.

Why lie? Why throw his fellow teammates under the bus?

Clowney is counting his money, and is more concerned about protecting his image for the draft than actually playing hard and winning games.

Because that's what his handlers are telling him to say.....

I detailed this back in July.... LINK

Clowney's fate was sealed last January after "the hit herd round the werld" brought the vulture money-men puppet-masters down on him.

Yea and that was to the side Clowney wasn't on.

Clowney's comments while not particularly smart, weren't malicious or "throwing his team under the bus". Fact is nobody on the defense went into Athens ready to play and UGA gameplanned around Clonwey to prevent him from making a major impact.

He still had a sack and he still forced UGA to run to the opposite side of the field but our entire defense was pathetic.

Cocksessed, itsnotarivalry.jpeg, thanks for losing to Auburn-lite, link? and you're out of your element.

UGA when running through the middle is almost always right of center no matter who we are playing. The best pass blockers are on the weak/blind side and the best run blockers are on the right.

Yall moved Clowney around to both sides. UGA didn't run away from him.

It's make-believe.

Clowney played like shite and the Carolina fans just can't accept the fact Clowney is counting his money and already gave up, but even worse, defending Clowney after he threw the team under the bus for the benefit of his own image.

Pretty much had their way with him. Running teams just abuse a player like that.

Clowney = Simeon Rice when he was at Illinois. All the media hype, average to above average play, nothing stellar to justify the hype. Rice was a bust in the NFL.

Yea we moved him to the otherside and then yall ran off to the left I saw the stat something like 80% of UGA's running plays went away from Clowney, whether he was on the left or right.

Clowney was the only player on our dline that consistently got into UGA's backfield.

But hes so bad and already has one foot out the door and hes more concerned about his NFL paycheck and hes a terrible teammate and a thugPOS and i'm glad hes not on my team....

More make-believe.

And even if that stat exists, it would be saying "middle" is away from Clowney who is on the left.

Because he was pass rushing... (even on run plays lol) left tackle drops back to pass block... into the backfield... duh.

On UGAs last 2 TD passes, Clowney slanted inside, lost contain, and Murray slipped outside and threw easy TDs. I wonder why the State or P and C failed to mention that?
