Love this line.

well they weren't sheddnig their leaves at odd times, and there was no real time table on their death...technically our boy didn't really do anything those dumb barners weren't doing already.

A drunk guy at a party ignores his friends warning and dances on the balcony rail. He slips and falls...As he plummets to his inevitable death, another guy shoots him from a window across the street with a high powered rifle.

Who knows what could have happened if he hadn't been shot by the idiot? Maybe someone would roll out a trampoline, or he might have somehow survived...

So goes the saga of Toomer's Corner...

My point is the barn was warned by experts of the damage being done by the trees. They didn't care. Behaving like middle schoolers outweighed the damage being done to the trees by the fans.

you should try to get info from somewhere else other than tidefans.

No, they didn't care. That's why it was studied, recommendations were made and implemented and the trees were thriving compared to the state they were in 2007.
I suggest you get your facts from somewhere other than tidefans.com.

No shite. AU put together the committee to study the trees. It was determined they were not doing well due to location, environment factors, being hit by a car, being set on fire (by rival fans), and yes the pressure washing (which was minor compared to the other problems). AU then took the steps to get the trees back in good shape and it worked.

Until Updyke that is.

That is absolutely not true. Like the above Auburn poster said, steps were taken to relieve compaction and they were doing well. I looked at the trees many times in the years before they were poisoned and they were health, growing, and looking great. Only a Gump could somehow rationalize the fact that they were going to die anyway. All living things are going to die eventually. That doesn't make it any less of a crime if we poison everything around us. Unbelievable. Experts have also stated that the power washing had NO effect on the life span of the trees.
