Pretty much this. But I also thought his shock and excitement added to the moment, not take away from it. Same with Stan.

But I also only listened to it after the fact as like most folks I watched it on tv.

you'd think the Gumps would want to quit bringing this up so that it might fade away within the next decade

No kidding. I hate the damn play and try to avoid it all costs.

Its like saying "How shitty was Chris Davis' running form as he ran down the sideline? LOL"

Having been spoiled by the like's of Munson and Skip Caray for the majority of my life, I think Rod's reaction was on par. Hell, I don't know what you would have wanted him to say there. It was a play completely without precedent on that big of a stage. Quite frankly, I think he said exactly what all of us (Gumps, too) were thinking: "Oh my God! Auburn's going to win the football game!" I mean, what else could you say that would justify that moment? Some of Munson's best calls were simply, "Touchdown! Oh (my) God a Touchdown!"

When Bama beat Auburn but lost to Florida, we considered our season a failure. But you know different expectations for little brother.

We will always be their Super Bowl, I mean we are the Yankees of college football anyway.
