We shall be so honored to play the Tennessee Vols and the Bristol Champions...in 2 weeks. Please consider us as worthy humble foes to engage in a titanic battle.
Such feats should not be taken lightly. Hail to the Bristol Champions!!

The amazing thing about the Battle at Bristol was how well the gimmickry and the scheduling was able to disguise what an otherwise uninteresting game it was
If an unranked VT played a #15 Tennessee team on any other weekend in one of their home stadiums, it'd be relegated to ESPN2 and the flip-over channel to a plethora of more important games.
It's a real testament to the lengths to which we all as CFB fans will go to suspend disbelief enough to buy into the novelty of a completely erroneous event. So if Tennessee is going to treat it like a championship of some kind, well, then we only have ourselves to blame.

Wow, you're a completely clueless tool.
So not a lot of conference championships?
I figured as much.

Like you'd even get an invite to participate in such an event
I never dreamed they would put 156K people in that venue. I thought it would be half empty. The talking heads said there were 100K people outside.
Cool stat last night: The 156K attendance was more than 40+ FBS schools would have all season.
That is a tribute to the passion of both schools and probably impossible for say, Ms State/ Ole Miss (since no one really wants to go there) or for UF/FSU just because, and so on. There are plenty of NASCAR venues after all.
Did anyone else notice that this was essentially the Jefferson-Pilot game at a different time?

I tried to watch the game and got bored The pregame was fun and the first quarter was neat because of the setting but the game played out about as expected: Tennessee was overwhelmed by the moment and overpowered by an inferior VT team until VT showed their true colors, bailed Tennessee out emotionally, and the Vols did what they were supposed to do from there. In the grand scheme of things, the game won't be remembered for anything other than the fact that more people than ever before showed up to watch a CFB game, albeit from far away while squinting really hard. I bet the tailgating was a blast, though.

That's like only one more than Mizzou. I expected more.
Are we doing real national championships, or counting them up Bama-style?

Let's only do SEC championships then

Sure, but before 2012 doesn't count since Mizzou wasn't even eligible.
If need be, we can go down to SECCG appearances.

Plus confetti and "championship" t-shirts? I'd hope Mizzou would decline something that pathetic.
The players do a lot of hard work. Well, maybe not at Mizzou. But the UT players get a kick out of it.
Maybe that is why the Mizzou WP is barely above .500.

Just didn't schedule the Vols enough.

I sense a real problem with this game.
Besides 6 national champions, 13 SEC crowns, being 4th in all time bowl appearances, last team to shut out every opponent, and now winner of the largest football game ever, the way-over-the-top- jealousy of "Vandy 2" (Mizzou) and others will lead to more infantile, unworthy behavior.
Just because why not.
