They are still broke. Why do they think they can afford to "money whip" a big name coach?

They can money whip a Coach, but a lot of other teams can also.
The deciding factor may very well be work environment and Alleva is not somebody I would want to work for.

Jesus Christ, how hard is it to comprehend that LSU's athletic department is completely funded by ticket sales and private donations and has nothing to do with the academic budget, which is the one that is undergoing cuts b/c of the idiot politicians. TAF gives several million dollars a year to the University. TAF is loaded, we can afford any coach we want.

Yes. This will not be a bidding war with UH. This will be an open market deal because Herman should have a reasonably competent agent. He can get a $4.5M to $5M on the open market.

LSU is like Lehman Brothers late in 2007 still over leveraging the housing markets. Their state and their school has no money and they think "private donors" aren't connected to any of the former. Those poor bastards..
