Did Kevin Steele and Kirby Smart have some world class personal conflicts?

And was the stress that emanated from The Kirby Thing the distraction that caused Kevin Steele to not be on top of his game against Clemson the past two years?

I’ve heard the same thing from people who worked with him when he was at LSU. Good coach but an a-hole.

I believe it was The Boz who said Kevin and Kirby actually got into a fight at a practice session before the Bama vs OSU game.

I think you got it backwards. Kevin Steele was on top of his game, Gus and the offense wasn’t.

Given his past record as a DC, I've been surprised and impressed with his success at Auburn.

I'm sure it helped have Boom lay a good foundation, and I thought there'd be some drop off. But he's had the Auburn Defense looking skrong since he arrived on the plains.

It definitely did, but Steele has picked up right were Muschamp left off when he left.

Absolutely. "Steele Curtain" has gone from a snide joke to legit.

I think you have to give a lot of credit to Rodney Garner. He continues to recruit and develop great DL for our system.

It all starts up-front. He's been recruiting at a high level for a while, but we are finally seeing the results on the field.

Yeah it’s nice having a defense keep you in games until the end even when our offense seems to be sputtering.
