During the game in relation to the offensive game plan for the bcs game. First sorry if topic sucks but i am already dreading the offseason and this interested me at the time... He said Saban told Jim the off game plan was his and Saban kept his hands off and just looked at defense all week. I know JM caught heat from many of us for his play calling in the past. I can't help but wonder now if that was in large part due to Sabans input after that comment. Depending on the experience and philosophy of the next OC do you think he will keep his hands off because I found we were playing a much more wide open game plan and trusting AJ more than before against easily the best defense we have seen all year.

In one pre-game interview with Tom Rinaldi, I could swear Saban said he was upset with the playcalling in the first meeting and that he wanted more first-down passing. While there is no doubt I believe the report that Saban let his OC make the gameplan, I am certain Saban gave him a set parameter of plays he wanted and said first-down passing was key.

I sure wish Chavis would have been ready for
Alabama's surprise offensive game plan. It looked like he hadn't even considered it.

Thats Bull shite. LSU's D did what they were supposed to do. 5 field goals and a late TD after everything was decided. The lack of Offense by LSU made Bama look better than they were. Kept LSU defense on the field may more than they should have been and gave Bama almost twice as may plays on offense to move the ball. Played Bama twice and they scored ONE touchdown. How many games did Bama score 1 TD or less? 2 and both of them was Chavis's D.

FTr I think he opens it up more next yr due to an inexperienced defense(but with Lester and Sunseri) back it wil not be as bad as 2010 I don't think. We will rely on our offense more but I think the real challenge is keeping them hungry.

it wasn't that much of a surprise... all Chavis would've had to do was watch Bama's last game to know they were gonna throw on first downs and get their TEs involved in the offense early.

No, the only thing I heard Brent say all night was, "Honeybadger lined up on slot. Honeybadger back for the punt. honeybadger with a tackle. Honeybadger on slot. honeybadger missed a game. Honeybadger over the slot. Honeybadger getting a handy at the slot. Honey badger this slot. Honey badger that slot."

Saban has said many times he likes to throw the ball more. That AJ is capable to do it, they see him do it everyday, and that the WR's are talented and can execute the pass plays.

Sounds to me like Saban has let Jim run the offense without input for a while. And, now that Jim is all but gone, Saban may have had a lot more input in the offensive plan for Monday night.

Hell, I don't know.

It wasn't just the AU game. We had been throwing on first down all year. Danielson was actually talking about that on Brando today.

Letting Jim do his thing was the smart thing, esp. since that was his last game at Bama.

He will make me want to keep up with CSU for the next couple of years. I howpe he does well and gets a little better job or maybe come back to Bama when CNS retires.

McElwain is a very good OC, Bama will miss him.

Also no Saban will not be hands off with the next OC either, they will run his offense will some wrinkles of their own.
