Nice pivot. We have multiple national championships since 2000 with 3 different coaches, something that has taken Alabama 70 years to accomplish.

More like 30 years. Bryant won a title in 1979. Stallings in 1992. Saban in 2009.

Wallace Wade logged 3 NC, then bolted to Duke. Could he have won more?

No he wouldn’t because he had an itch he needed to scratch. He doesn’t become the college coach he is unless he gets rid of that NFL bug.

Saban and Bryant would have been great anywhere

Yeah, the answer to OP question is kind of Both.
Would Bama had have the same success without Saban and Bryant? No, they would have some success, but not at the level of Bryant and Saban.

Would Bryant and Saban have had the same success somewhere other than Alabama? I think the answer to this is also no. There might be a couple of places they could have but not many.

No school makes a coach. We were lucky to have Bear, and because of that we got Saban.

Program expectations have a lot to do with it. As a program Alabama expects to win. Most programs want to win...Alabama expects it. Alabama had won what, 5? natties prior to Bryant? A football program in the deep south and not up north or in California? Alabama and Georgia Tech put the south on the college football map.

I think it's just the best 2 coaches.

I also think due to instate talent if he stayed he would have way more than what he has now than at bama. 3 different coaches in what is almost 4 year differences in each title is remarkable. Imagine having a solid foundation and consistency of coaching in one place during that time, you would have probably twice more.

Les Miles and Ed O won natties at LSU. LSU has proven that a good coach can win natties at LSU...LSU doesn't need a great coach to be successful...anyone who doubts how dangerous it is for the rest of the SEC for LSU to have Bryan Kelly in red stick is simply dumb or refuses to acknowledge how good LSU can be with a low-end good coach like Miles and Ed O....Kelly may not get it done but I wouldn't bet against it...

Alabama had 5 National titles before coach Bryant took over.

Coach Bryant won 6 titles in 25 years.

Every head coach after coach Bryant, no matter how bad, at least had one 10-win season at Alabama.

Gene Stallings, who won nowhere before coming to Tuscaloosa, averaged 10 wins a season for all 7 seasons and a National Championship.

Coach Saban has been the most dominant coach in modern-day football and yet he never had a back-to-back 10-win season anywhere else he coached, including LSU. He has had 15 back-to-back 10 win seasons at Alabama.

This is kind of an arbitrary stat, due to a number of factors.

One of the weirder arguments for this invisible advantage Alabama supposedly has.

So I gave you a number of stats that tell the history of the Crimson Tide. Why not comment on that and you don't have to worry about arbitrary.

Saw something on TV the other day. Trivia question name the schools with four different coaches have won national football championships since start of AP era. bama wasn't one of them. Which one thomas or wade was pre AP pols?

LSU was on the list. dietzel, saban, miles and EdO.

You'll get no argument that Alabama had the blue blood advantage pre modern era.

That isn't true any longer though, there are multiple elite programs where Saban could've built a juggernaut, Alabama just happened to land him.

Alabama has the modern-day argument for being the premiere blue blood.

So what advantage does that give them when Saban leaves?

We're already watching Georgia kick Alabama out of the seat it's occupied so long.

That kicks you out too, doesn't it? And when did one win against BAMA in the last 15 years kick someone out?

I'm not trying to argue that LSU has an advantage over any other elite program.

Although being the only P5 program in a talent rich state does help.

Georgia is simply becoming the program they always should have been. Of all the schools in the SEC, Georgia is in the best position to run the conference. Their state is filled to the brim with NFL-caliber talent year in and year out and they have no true in-state rival to compete with for the state's top recruits. Florida has to worry about Florida State and Miami and other out-of-state schools. The same thing goes for Texas.
