This is the day we all pretend to know something about the thoroughbred racing, let our women wear funny hats, and sing exactly 4 bars of My Old Kentucky Home.

Wildcat's fool proof method for enjoying a Mint Julep:
Add 1-3 cubes of clear ice to a fine crystal glass.
Pour 2 oz of fine Kentucky Bourbon over the ice.
Toss that green syrup shite in the trash.

Enjoy!

I'm liking:

Among the favorites...
Mo Donegal- Pletcher trained; Ashview bred.

Middlings...
Happy Jack- Sentimental pick for Calumet, who surprisingly has two Derby horses

Long shots...
Barber Road- Kentucky bred out of the Keeneland sale, has run well at Oaklawn

I think hooking your goofy arse is catching up to equestrian.

Pulling hard for Epicenter, but don't like him being in the 3 post.

That folks, is why you run the race, play the game, fight the battle. Anything can happen.

So happy for the owner. $30k horse bred by Calumet. Versailles KY celebration tonight!

Y'all throw one hell of a great race. Love it. A tip my hat to ol' Kentucky.

"A $2 bet on Rich Strike would have paid out $163.60. Rich Strike's 80-1 odds made the payouts for exacta, trifecta and superfecta bets remarkably high.

An exacta bet with Rich Strike and Epicenter would have paid out $4,101.20 if you placed $2 on the slip.

A trifecta including Rich Strike, Epicenter and Zandon would have paid out $14,870.70 and a superfecta with those three horses and fourth-place finisher Simplification would have produced a $321,500.10 payout."

Watched the race on replay a few times. Really bad strategy by most in the field when a bunch in the middle all went wide around turn 4. That move took Epicenter to the middle of the track. Did not look like he expected a challenge coming on the inside. Rich Strike came all the way from the back right straight through the inside and everyone just kept getting out of his way. Great ride by that jockey.

This is the way.

Kentuckians do not drink Mint Juleps. Ever. That shite is nasty. If you're going to do a derby folks because a woman insists, do a Lily.

Bourbon on the rocks is all you need my friends.

Can't argue that. I prefer mine on the rocks. Many of my friends prefer it neat.

I too was happy to see Calumet back in the winners circle.

For those of you that have flown into Lexington, this is the large, picturesque farm right off the runway of LEX.
